Trisector

Postby mistress of magic » Nov 30th, '03, 12:07

The Effect
The magician displays a black box with a slot down the side, two red plastic blades (i.e. they were not washed after the last performance) and the beautiful assistant, but as the last performance went rather wrong, she has been replaced by a pound note.
The pound note is folded and slid into the trisector, remaining in full view at all times. The dangerously sharp (not) blades are plunged into the pound note, slitting it into three pieces. The middle section is slid out, and then replaced. Then the blades are removed, followed by the note, which is mysteriously unharmed.

Cost

$24.95 from www.magiclegends.com/product601.html

Difficulty
1/2 I found it takes a good bit of practise to get it working smoothly all the time, but maybe that's just me.

Review

I do like this effect but as I said, it does take a bit of practise and is quite fidgety. The blades are examinable as is the note, but the trisector is not. The note however could be a bit of a problem if you are not in America or England , I just use a $1 as it’s easier than trying to use Scottish notes. I don’t use it much, as I’m always worried it goes wrong, but when I do, I always get a great reaction from it.
Overall
As I said, I do like this effect and while it’s not one of the “must have” effects it’s great for anyone wishing to do a close up version of the zigzag girl illusion.
