Or there's another one called "misled" that seems to do the same thing but it's slighly more expensive I think (from abrakazam). Is that better?

cheers,

Paul

The perfect pen is one of my most used close up tricks. Expensive but you do get a quality looking pen, although the down side of this is with it looking so good people may think its a gimmick.
It can be examined, only one pen is used and you can write with it. Only a slight minimum of practice is needed to get the handling right, but you should have it down perfectly within an hour or so.
How convincing is it? Done right its very convincing. In my line of work a pen is essential so I get to use it alot on invoices, bills, credit card slips etc to old and young people. No ones rumbled me yet and all are taken aback.
If you have any questions just e-mail me and I'll be glad to answer.

Perfect Pen - John Cornelius

Price: £39.99 ($58.15)

John Cornelius invented the original Pen Through Anything in 1993. Later on he marketed the extra "Rip gaff" and a video and booklet by Jim Krenz on additional handlings. The new "Perfect Pen will do everything that the original did but with the added features that:
Only one pen is used

The spectator may write with the pen

The pen is refillable.

The spectator actually see's the ripped pieces of the bill when the pen is pushed through the bill.

The pen is precision made and is attractive chrome with gold plating.

Nothing is added or taken away to achieve the illusion.

The pen is totally examinable before and after the effect.

Skill Level: Novice

Comments: This is excellent I have used this and the original pen through anything and this is the best it only requires 1 pen and you do not need to do a pen switch it is examinable and in the many times I have performed this no one has sussed out the gaff. I was recently in a resturant watching a magician table hopping and after his show I got chatting to him and he had the original pen through anything after he saw this he was determined to buy one and he had used the original on Nigel Mansel (not sure if this is a recomendation) he told me that Nigel signed the bill first (£20 Note) and then gave it to him as a momento the magician is still kicking himself as he accidentaly spent the signed 20 - lifes a bitch.....

Does the note actually look rpped around the point where the pen has penetrated it? I've not seen it close-up, but I know it's gimmicked with a m***** so can't really see how it would *look* ripped. I think it's earned a place on my To-Buy list though, when I can justify the expense!

If you "twiddle" the pen around with your fingers allowing the spectator to only see that its clearly penetrated they won't notice, but there are instructions on how to include a "rip gaff" although i have never bothered and no ones ever rumbled me.
When you hand the note back the design of the pen leaves an imprint of a circle which is just as effective.
It also gives you instructions on how to penetrate a coin. I used it to penetrate my tongue in a pub recently. Painful but it earned me a few beers.

I had the opertunity to see the 'Pen through anything' done close up by a professional magician. I had heared of the effect before and guessed how it was gimmicked. As he displayed the effect I found I knew exactly what the guy did. This is probably because I knew what to look for, but I didn't find it as amazing as I thought it could be. Saying that It was still quite impressive and definately a useful trick for when someone asks you to do magic and you are unprepared.

Hello there... I really need someone to answer this question... please...
I saw 2 videos of people performing the Perfect pen, and I think it really sucks. It really is obvious the way it works. Then in magicsmith.com, I saw a video of someone performing the voodoo pen, and they folded the bill in half, and you could actually see the pen being shoved into the bill. I thought that was super cool.

Can you do this move with the perfect pen, or is it a voodoo pen exclusive? if so, how? please e-mail me telling me how at: koldfuzzion@hotmail.com

I purchased this prop about a month ago and only perform the trick with the bill folded, it even baffles my fellow magic performers but the only tip I can give is that when you perform your routine release the m******* tip on the outside near you and it fastens tightly because of the m*****. Pull the half of the bill which is visible to the spectator and the peices come together either side of the note, Robert Gallup also performs it this way in his recent TV show. Hope that helps.

Wow - A friend of mine bought the Perfect Pen from Davenports (£50, as opposed to Abrakazam's £40) and I used it a couple of times that night at the pub when paying for drinks - this has to be one of the best tricks I'veseen for immediate reactions!! Really slam the pen through the note (careful of your fingers between the m******!) and then after a few moments when they're in stunned silence wondering what the f***you're doing, rip it out and hand them the untorn bank note, then sit back and watch the disbelief on their faces!

The rip sound is great if you pull the pen out fast and downwards, although we did rip to notes completely in half tat night through over use! (I think it strains the note if you do it too many times to the same one, and eventually it'll rip)!

I REALLY need to get one of thse for myself!

(incidentally - a tip... the pen is "completely examinable" although the nib can be pulled out by a spectator if it's pulled straight with a firm hand - avoid this by coating th nib in a thin layerof vaseline then wiping it lean, the residue should help conceal the secret!)
