Name: Thought Sender by Eugene Burger
Price: $20.00
Difficulty: 1
Reset time: 2 seconds - in full view
Examinable: Yes (!)
Performance time: 5 min
What you get: A 'Devil's Deck' of bicycle cards; six-page instruction booklet & performance tips.
Effect: Cards and mentalism combine to create a great effect. A deck of cards is placed in the palm-up hand of a spectator. The magician explains that he is able to think of any card in the deck and to mentally 'send' the image of that card to the spectator. The spectator and performer engage in a series of mental 'selections', arriving at a chosen card - the spectator may even change her choice of card at the last minute. The chosen card has a blue back...and..(gasp)...the rest of the pack is red. The selected card and the pack can be examined.
Comments: This is a great effect. Stronger than the Brainwave deck - a single pack is used, the storyline is more involving and makes more sense, and the selection & deck can be examined. Spectators examine a gimmicked deck? For a limited time, yes (okay - probably best for them not to try a riffle shuffle) but the gaff is really very subtle for laymen.
Too good to be true? See Eugene Burger perform it in Quicktime video
