NAME : Golden Key
PRICE : £22.99
TYPE : Close-up
DIFFICULTY : 2/5
ANGLES : All, if you're careful
EXAMINABLE : Only at the end
RESET TIME : Virtually instant
WHAT YOU GET : 24K Gold-plated key in presentation box, instructions.

EFFECT : Offering to show the spectators something a little different and mysterious, you produce a presentation box. Opening it reveals a shiny golden mortice key. You remove the key and hold it for all to see, saying that you will demonstrate something strange. With just a gentle rub you are able to make the "teeth" of the key move around the cylinder! Then, right in front of the spectator's disbelieving eyes, you move the teeth right down to the bottom of the cylinder.
For a blinding finish you hand out the key for examination and the teeth are seen to be solidly WELDED in the wrong place - there's no way you could have moved them!

COMMENTS : I loved this trick as soon as I saw it performed and snapped it up as soon as I could. The routine can be along the simple lines of "have a look at this..." to the mysterious "Watch what the power of the mind can do!" Whatever way you play it, the fact that you hand the key out for examination at the end always makes for a strong effect that will baffle and amuse others. The only criticism I have is of the "presentation" box the key comes in. It's large, plastic, and hardly inspires mystery. Splash out on a small, carved wooden box instead, or a felt bag.
Apart from that, I can't recommend this highly enough for any lover of close-up magic.

RATING : 9/10

i have this trick and you need about 1-5 seconds for reset so its ok between tables but unlike the haunted key it should not be repeated as a sharp eyed spec will notice the gimmick.

I know this is a different topic but does the carpenters nail work in the same way.... i read that after you have used it thats it its useless... and that you have to by more nail seprateley which isnt a problem but do you bend them the same way... cause i thought the original nail might of been a gimmick like the key.......

i want a trick where the audeince can examine it before and after the trick then reset it.... any ides as am not sure what to get or which is best

ok examinable tricks that are quick reset:-

haunted key (my personal no reset needed favorate)
colour changing poker chips (can be reset quickly)
scotch and soda (needs an excuse to do some tapping)
coin unique (emagic has a version, reset can be done in pocket)
dicy dots by darly (a nice use of slieghts and a hot rod)
hot rod (instant reset not repeatable)
china change (fully eaminable at end, resets in your hand)
hopping halfs / sun and moon variants (reset in purse or pocket when getting coins.
stamp book / colouring book (instant reset, repeatable not eaminable)
b.i.p book (semi examinable as they use it instant reset semi repeatable)
colur changing chinese coin (like poker chips examinable befor and after rest in poket) i don't have this as yet but emagic is trying to get it in.
butter coin (instant reset avalable in 50p, 10p, and american versions)
