Title: David Roth's Expert Coin Magic Made Easy vol 1, basic coin magic
Price: The label on mine says £28 but I see that a lot of dealers seem to have it at about $30
Difficulty: 3, well actually it's pretty much all sleights, and a few of them may be easy 4's but it is the basic coin magic volume
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

For each sleight David Roth explains the moves required and the subtelties that make it work slowly and carefully, repeating all the salient points in a clear and easy to follow manner. Following each section there is a quick tips bit, going into a little more detail on the best ways to hide the move. Most sections and, I think, all the tricks also have a silent slow motion open angle replay of the moves so that you can see exactly what is happening without being confused by the descriptions.
As you you can see, the tape (yes it is VHS, not sure if you can get it on DVD) finishes with a couple of effects, one of which, chink-a-chink is pretty great, the other two aren't anything to shout about, but then that's not the point of this video. It's purpose is to teach you to palm, produce and switch coins like a pro, which it does very well.
overall: 9/10, for a video teaching the basics of coin magic it does a pretty good job. You could go into it with no experience at all and find some things you could do pretty easily, if you have a little more experience there are many harder things you would learn and even for a fairly experienced magician there are a lot of subtelties and ideas that you may not have heard of ot thought about.
It basically does what it says, it teaches you to do basic coin magic like an expert.
Cogito, ergo sum.
Cogito sumere potum alterum.
