my counts of Elmsley and Jordan - please advise and critique

I recently learned to count. Please have a look and give me any tips and advice. It starts off with the EC and then alternates between JC and EC.

EC and JC

I'm having trouble with the JC. When I take the second card, the third card sometimes comes along with it and flashes the face up card, as you can see my video  I can't really work out a way to peel off a single card without breaking the rhythm since I already have the card in my hand.

Few tips that might help.

One - You're having trouble in the counts because you curl the left hand fingers, giving you less countrol over the cards. Hold the fingers so they're straight.
Two - Don't take the cards off flat. Flex the packet by pressing down on the cards with your right thumb so they snap off the side of the packet.
Three - Keep the left hand stationary, don't move the hand or fingers during the count.
Four - practice until you don't have to think about what you're doing.

Hmm. Maybe TM's link obfuscation is making it not treat as avi.

I don't think this is too bad. You seem to have a nice handling of the cards, and it's pretty smooth. What you should work on, is the real "secrets". When you do those moves, they shouldn't be that visible. A magician will see what is going on, and a layman might get that something odd is going on. It's not bad, but it's a great start and something that needs to be pollished !

Keep it up my magicfriend.

*sigh*

Now I get this error instead:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or a required codec might not be installed on your computer.

Any tips ??

The secret to these displays is timing and consistency of action. I see a lot of people going way to fast on their counts, for my taste. As you'll soon see from my competition entry I'm trying to do a slow, consistant display. I'm not quite there yet, but I don't think I'm far off.

Your display is good, but you need to get the timing right. Try using a metronome or even a piece of music with a solid rhythm. Its all about getting the rhythm of the pick up consistant and you need to make sure each part of the sequence looks the same as the others. I found that slowing the sequence right down really helped me out.

Looks good, but practise, practise, practise. Which is no different from the rest of us.

Thanks for the tips. I'm not sure whether to go fast (like Jay does) or slow where the spec may wonder why I'm showing them so slowly. :P

Hello Option. This looks quite good. The only thing that bothered me is the way you peal off that block off two with your left thumb all the way from the right side of the cards. If you see how you peal off just one card it differs from the way you take two...

What does it look like when you simply count off four cards? Video that action and compare and contrast your speed and consistency with the counts. Its probably not fast or slow but somewhere in between.

Hmm I see what you mean. I have to do that cuz otherwise the 2 always seem to separate. I have the same problem with my hamman count, I'm not really sure how to fix it
Do you think it'd look wierd if I always have my left thumb all the way to the right side of the cards :?:
