the REAL floating card has already been reviewed, so if your going to add another review could you please put it where it should be.... just keeps the place a little tidier

Sorry Mog, my thoughts was not regarding a review of the floating card but more of a dramatic climax to a svengali routine.

I have just received the floating card dvd today and on first viewing it appears that it would work very well with the svengali deck.

Especially as when you levitate the top card off the deck you can pick up the next card underneath while the chosen card is floating and use this card to prove there is nothing above or below the floating card! The bit I like about this move is that again you show that the next card in the pack is different to the top card just to reinforce in the audience's mind the all the cards in the pack are different.

regards,
Valentino

yeah man svengali's great for kids show's, my tip is to flick the cards to thse kid to pick the card and say remember the first twenty cards.
then when they look shocked say thats not fair is it tell you what i'll riffle the cards face down and at any point stick your finger in to select a card...

pretty much the basic move in the book but if it works dont fix it, then i ditch the sven deck and retrive my wizard deck shuffle till they tell me to stop cut and present.

when both kids turn over their cards there the same, no problem with kids who dont know what the card is called etc.

the only two packs i use in my shows, never needed anything else except my jumbo kings to aces that is.

if you dont have them get them

my version

as my mate picked me up and i got out of his car i quickly stuck the prediction card to his windscreen where his parking ticket would normally go with a minute piece of double sided sticky tape. When we got inside his house i done my stuff and told him to look at his car outside to his suprise:)

You can do lots of stuff with svengali...

Me to...

... but what is the best Svengali set to buy, just for the record I have the Marvins Magic one, that came with a card trick set (pressie from my mother in law). Its handy as the two decks look the same, the only problem is the boxes, it don't help, but you can use them if you are carefull.

But yes when you want to rest from old slights, the Svengali can help lots :D

mine are marvins but you can get them in bike format too, as for cases just swap for a plastic one or use a card guard, do a search on this site there are a few threads about card boxes.

... they are flat packed bicycle ones, but the cards are bridge size and the boxes poker, but could do the trick.

I will check emagictricks website later and see what they have

Thanks for the reply and memory jog as well :D

use a pool table

Postby greenbelter » Mar 14th, '04, 16:33

Get them to pick a card, replace the card and then to spread the cards all over a table (pool works best)

Then they hit a pool ball over the table allowing it to rebound till it stops on one card then you do your speal. Create some space around the choen card (where the ball stopped) and then turn it over. its a 50/50 chance of being their card.

If it works then fab response. The alternative is to gather the cards up and if their card is not the chosen one then you can how your cards to be all the same.

Its better if it works 1st time, leave the other cards there and its a great response. I did it on a weekend away and the girl was laughing so much cause she knew the card would be hers. Luckily it was. Great response.

Thanks to Paul Zennon. I assume he used a svengarli deck. If he didn't the ,mans a genious. Even still the best idead I have seen. From seeing the cards different, choosing a random card and misxing them to selecting it with a pool shot. Try it as long as they don't get funny and insist on tuerning the other cards over

Now got em...

Postby garethwitty » Mar 14th, '04, 18:06

... I now have a set of Svengali in red back bicycle and a lot happier. I found a lot of people are fooled better with this deck.

I put the deck in a pocket and switch for a regular red back deck and it gets em every time :D .

I hadn't thought of using a svengali deck for that, I assumed that PZ used another, slightly simpler and more reliable method....

so how do you pick up the deck in long/short order without looking at the faces or measuring the cards?

its wierd but

Postby greenbelter » Mar 15th, '04, 10:57

You just gather them up in any order and the cards can still just about but fanned to show both sides of the deck.

Its best to leave the deck on the table and just let them turn over the card.

The build up is awesome as they know its their card before you turn it over but they can't bare to see it.
