I was a goth during the 90's, but personally I'd say that you shouldn't worry too much if something works on a normal punter, it'll probably work on a goth.

Ok that was my boring side, now for my creative one... Anything with tarot/ghost/tigers cards should work well.

If you own these I would recommend using them..
Skewer through tongue (although they can probably all do that due to piercings),
Bullet Catch 22 (themed around the scene from the crow where they swallow the bullets)
Homicide (although I haven't recieved mine yet, it sounds perfect),
Haunted key
Stigmata
Anything from Lebanon Circle (especially 'From Hell')
Pyro perception
Voodoo doll
My little pony (I don't think this is a trick as such, but it'd probably be a good thing to combine with a fire effect)

well. think ive got enough ideas now.

although, thanks to Ecko, i've just though, any trick where i want to wrap a deck up, usually in rope or elastic bands, i could use someones wrist adornments, great idea!

Was it worth my name appearing in capitals? You're too kind

I like elastic banding during an ACR. Have the card returned, pass it to the top whilst squaring up and then have it wrapped in elastic bands to prove there's no funny business :D You could try that defnitely

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

For a mere fiver, how about The Black Deck Book from NUMS? The link is http://www.nothingupmysleeve.co.uk/mark ... ucts_id/31 and there are a couple of dark effects there which might appeal.

...try the cut-throat razor "Slasher" from Black Artifacts, its very good...you could force yer card/tarot...

with the ubiquetous envelope on show at the start, you open the envelope, and its a double blank...swear/curse it...ask them to name the card...pretend to get very angry saying "i knew it..i darn well knew it!"...

Reach for your razor and slash your forearm or wrist and drip the blood or rub the blank card into the blood...

lo and behold...writing appears....its the name of the tarot or playing card...leave them with it...

..i suppose you could alter it to a blood sacrifice tot he spirits if you wanted to get a little more occult or spiritual...

..just an idea...oh just use a varnished tip of a pencil or other blunted-tip object to score into the blank to indent the writing...

this is just off the top of my head, so please fill in any blazing gaps...

Noooo! Death Metal and Emo are not "Goth", Goth is exactly as EckoZero described (Okay, excluding CyberGoth which is something completely different. Hot chicks in bright pink short skirts with matching hair and make-up anyone? YES PLEASE!). Metal, hardcore, punk, emo, they're all different. You go up to a hardcore kid and call him goth, you're gonna lose your teeth.

I remember Emo the first time round, so it's only fair I get to do it again! Check it out HERE! It's all good, when I go out clubbing, I get told I look a lot younger than I am, haha.

On subject, look into anything shocking and full of gore. Make any regular trick more gorey and that will work, too. Try not to go too cheesey, as that will get you nowhere. Use goth places in your patter, especially Whitby. Look into bands, perhaps. Name a trick after a band.. Cradle of Filth, anyone?

Im very dissapointed no-one mentioned Bauhaus...tsk tsk tsk...

Never been a Goth, though i found that movement quite interesting in so far as it's kinda mutated slightly from the victoriana/edgar allen poe/fop kinda dress, into a more americanised vampire/mythical creature type affair...

...i think its the only movement that bases some parts of its culture on mythical beasts...wonder if theres ever been a rockabilly/satyr hybrid?

Anyway, yeah have a flick through some M.R. James or H.P. Lovecraft stories too for plot help...

Going for band names as titles would be good - The Sisters of Mercy could involve some kind of restoration or ressurection...

THe Cure could be a tale/tail of lycanthropic-tendencies...a card-change of some sort could be involved i suppose...

Get yourself a pendulum...a nice antique-y looking one and some tarot cards...

...if memory serves, Fields of the Nephilim or was it Sisters of Mercy did a track called "this corrosion"...plenty of leeway for crushing a signed coin into dust then re-forming it....or blowing the dust across some black parchment to reveal a thought of word or whatever...

shame they're so big, you could of done a card-to-coffin effect...

Ahhh... This board accidentally reveals the real hidden truth about magic: every magician is a goth, was a goth, or secretly longs to be a goth. Do whatever damn effects you want, Larry. Bottom line: you get to go to a goth party. We're all jealous as hell.

..they'll be inventing some kind of electronic library thing that you would access via a typewriter which in turn plugs into those new fangled telephizone boxes soon enough...
