yes, the french drop

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

I am not sure that drawing attention to the coin saying "watch" before doing the move is a good thing. Of course it depends on the context of the trick you are using but the mental attitude you should have is that you are simply transferring the coin and there is no need to draw attention to this transfer. In fact by doing so you could be doing something quite detrimental.

Of course once the move is done then you can certainly say "watch" as you indicate the hand that the coin is supposed to be in.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear:

"Of course once the move is done then you can certainly say "watch" as you indicate the hand that the coin is supposed to be in."

That's what i meant.

BUT I do think you should look at your hands casually before you take just so everyone "sees" you take it but don't draw attention to it.

I know what you meant. That is why I posted those two lines.

You are doing things correctly. Jolly good. Carry on...............

One of my favourite french drop "ditches" is to allow it to drop into my belt. Nobody sees it and it is amazing at how deceptive it is. Take a look at the "holy grail" coin routine. amazing!

To be honest sometimes I take something out of my pocket which i had "forgotten about" it gives me a reason to transfer the coin ant it is a natural ditch.

I agree pitto, I reach in to get something out of my pocket as well such as magic dust, or the magic card, or anything such as that

Jay Sankey shows a nice clean up in Holy Smoly. He is at pains to not rush the move and at the end (as this uses a swap) puts both hands in his trouser pocket in a very casual way.

ive got very little coin experience, but from what ive read taking the coin for real a couple times before you 'drop' sets up the spectator nicely...retention of vision and so on...

obviously the patter is the importance and maintaining eye contact whilst doing so...ask a question, involve them verbally somehow...
