Hello all:
I was just informed regarding the direction that this thread was taking, and more notably the problems that comfortablynumb was having. Let me first of all apologize that my Third Degree Burn was not all that you expected it to be. And more to the point, I’m so sorry that the gimmick is causing you any discomfort, but to be honest I think you did in fact receive a “dodgy” one.
I have been fortunate to not only receive rave reviews about the trick, but also to have sold a ton of these around the world. Unfortunately when you are dealing with numbers that high in any type of product (DVDs, electronic equipment, magic tricks, etc.), every so often you will get one or two that don’t work properly and/or were not assembled or constructed as well as they should have been. Keep in mind that parts of Third Degree Burn are machined, and other parts are actually assembled by hand, so with the law of averages, you might get a few that are not up to “spec”.
Comfortablynumb, based on your description, you obviously received a defective unit. The gimmick should cause absolutely no discomfort when used properly. While I appreciate your frustration and wanting to express your feelings on a public magic board, I think that it also would been good form if you had contacted me directly so that I may try to rectify the situation.
I pride myself on my product quality and more importantly my customer service, and many have expressed their appreciation for both of these on the various forums. And as you will read on my website, we would be happy to replace a defective item within 30 days of purchase (please refer to the “Terms and Info” link on the site for more details).
As I said, I think you simply just received a gimmick that did not get “finished” properly. Please contact me personally so that we may try to rectify this situation. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you all for your time.
Best regards,
Jason Palter
