Fair enough. Some supercilious plonkers are best ignored, though. Especially the ones that do it to get a reaction.

I see that Cardza is still jumping up and down in a most demented manner. He really must calm himself. I would suggest he see a good hypnotherapist since it would help him to relieve his stress. I have very reasonable rates. Furthermore if he goes to my website at www.marklewisentertainment.com he will see on the products section a useful tape or two on the subject of hypnosis.

I would be most grateful if he would buy one since in the entire time it has been there over the last few years I haven't sold a single one.

As for the book he mentions full of psychobabble about "Psychobiological" it just isn't logical whether psycho or not. Any book which has in it's title an awful word like that is to be immediately viewed with scepticism. I do not trust any book with big words in it. However if Carda really likes the big words then he should indeed check out the Baker book.

As for biology I have a young biologist who helps me in my hypnosis show. His responsibility is to make sure that nobody injures themselves on stage since broken necks are considered bad showmanship in a performance. He tells me that he considers that hypnosis is a great load of codswallop and he often tells me that after a show he feels as if we have been earning money by false pretences even though people have been jumping up and down like lunatics shouting "cuckoo" singing the Canadian national anthem and talking to invisible canaries.

One of the greatest stage hypnotists of the twentieth century who is still living and very well known in the UK told me that the thing was baloney. I cannot name him since he is a very respected hypnotherapist that everyone regards with great awe. He is well into his seventies now but really was number one when he was active. He told me that the whole thing was bunk and when I asked him why people acted in such a crazy manner he stared at me as if I were as naive as Cardza and said "you manipulate them, don't you"

And that is exactly what I have been doing ever since for many years. I make people jump up and down in my hypnosis show. And I am doing it now. Look at Cardza if you don't believe me.

No. I didn't ignore your post. I merely forgot to point you in the right direction.

Here it is. In the Robert Baker book there is a full chapter on the pain and operations thing in terribly high falutin' language but no doubt a university student like yourself (if you indeed are-I cannot remember because I am very aged) will be able to understand it.

Now let me know when you have studied it and I will advise you further. Don't forget that I am the professional. You aren't. I have "hypnotised" thousands of people. You haven't.

Now do try to improve yourself. There's a good chap.

Tomo...please...hold...me...back...

I don't care for your attiude one little bit marc lewis. You a professional? You certainly don't conduct yourself as one on these forums. I know you're just trying to wind me up but don't talk to me like that again.

DoctorO wrote:I can't argue that making someone cluck like a chicken is legit as I don't have any experience in that area, but from a theraputic perspective it seems to be fairly well established.

Theraputically and experimentally hypnosis has a clear basis in fact, backed up by unconscious reactions to suggestions outside of the trance state. A lot of approaches stem from the idea of suppressing the critical faculty by wrapping the conscious tightly around a pont of focus, thereby leaving your model of reality, and therefore how you perceive reality, open to change by suggestion.

In terms of subjective experience, once in the state of hypnotic trance for the purposes of entertainment, the best parallel is probably a waking dream. You never seem to question how you came to be a waiter at the Ritz trying explain to the Beatles that there's no blue string soup left, you just get on with it. Even if you do know it's a dream, it might actually be an opportunity for something incredibly pleasant or impressive, lke meeting John Lennon. It's just a trip, so you go with it. You'll soon snap out of the state if there's anything you seriously don't like, just like in a natural dream, such as him coming on to you.

Oh for crying out loud, maybe I should spell it out ....

MARK LEWIS IS A PROFESSIONAL STAGE HYPNOTIST

Is that clear enough? One people have taken the trouble to research their field a bit he might be willing to give a few pointers, though not to people who haven't and who come here expecting essays when they haven't put in the time themselves.

He gets his kicks by people giving him straight answers and trying to lecture him. It's a hobby and personally I find it enormously entertaining although I can see why people might rise to it if they don't get it. So please, read through what he says again and see it for the joke it clearly is.

I know jokes lose something if they need explaining but I fear people were about to do something they might regret :)

I must inform the Cardza child that he was the one who was rude first. I was the model of decorum and civility as befits my august and saintly presence when he started to erupt in a most peculiar manner.

The art of "winding up" as he puts it is very similar to hypnosis. Any hypnotist will tell you that nobody can hypnotise you - you hypnotise yourself. In the same way nobody can wind you up- you wind yourself up.

I must calm down our agitated friend in the name of peace and love.

Here we go.

First take a deep breath and look at the computer screen. As you look at the screen you will find your eyes becoming tired and heavy, tired and heavy. In fact they are becoming so tired and heavy that you want to close them. So close your tired eyes down tight, tight together.

(At this point I have come across a little technical difficulty. Once his eyes are closed he will no longer be able to read the induction. I shall have to let him figure out this problem. I understand he is a fan of biology and will no doubt find a way. I shall now continue.)

Your eyelids are closed down so tight, tight together that you find you cannot open them. Try. Try hard. You cannot open them. Forget about your eyes now and go to sleep. Breathe deep. Breathe very deep and go to sleep.

Now take a deep breath. Hold the breath , hold the breath, hold the breath. Now let it go. How good you feel. How calm you feel. Nothing can disturb you . Even Mark Lewis. You feel so calm and completely relaxed. Nothing will bother you . Nothing will disturb you. Just go to sleep and enjoy the silence surrounding you.
.........................................................................................................

There. We had better let him sleep. With a bit of luck he won't wake up for a couple of weeks.

Shhh..............Don't disturb him..................

I find it entertaining as well...I think the reason anyone keeps checking this thread and leaving comments is because it's maintained it's amusement. I don't think anyone here is engaging in anything beyond entertainment purposes.

What do you know about what I've researched and what I haven't, who I've spoken to about it and who I haven't?

My God! Is this true?

[thumps big important desk, making teacup and spoon rattle in saucer]

Why am I not informed of these things?! It really isn't good enough...

Well, if you stop picking a scab, it falls off and gets better a lot faster.
