I have no idea what a zip file or a politically correct folder is. Or what any kind of "folder" is.

I shall find the actual question and post it here. It wishes to give me two choices and I don't know which I am supposed to say.

I must say that this modern world is terribly burdensome.

It asks me if I wish to save this "compressed file" (whatever the hell that is supposed to mean) to a compressed folder for later use or if I "wish to extract it to a normal folder"

I have no idea what it is talking about. It is like watching the average mentalist perform.

Extract to a normal folder... the compressed file is no good to you until you extract it mate

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

Mate?? How terribly informal. I am not used to that expression in the circles in which I frequent.

I do thank you all the same and shall try out your suggestion.

A bit off topic but I'd just like to say there's not much better after a weary day at work than reading the internet musings of Mark Lewis. I micturate myself upon every new post. Keep it up Mark, I reckon you've got a copy of all the Adrian Moles next to your computer and you refer to the writing style every time you post. Cos you sound well like him.

I know the feeling. I've been here for far too long and have my penultimate final tomorrow.

Oops.

Makes me wonder why you decided to get them then.

Unless you only do it so you can moan about something.

Are you sure your name isn't really Victor Meldrew?

Some people have written that they like looking at your comments.

I agree with them.

That way, I can see that there is someone sadder than me.

I have never heard of this Adrian Mole personage. And I am sorry to hear that bronz "micturates" himself at every post. I have no idea what the word means but I have a feeling that I would not approve if I did. I must say that I cannot condone any type of unnatural behaviour.

I am sure that you would not approve. It may not be unnatural but I am sure that it has the potential to cause damage to your computer.

Mark...

I've taken a look at the files supplied by Mr Heydon.

If you like, I can send you them as regular normal completely fool-proof and luddite friendly documents.

Although, I feel that you've learned something about computers you didn't already know—which has surely enriched your day?

I am quite amazed actually that your computer didn't 'walk you through' the procedure in a typical 'Windows/Microsoft built-for-simplicity' kind of way.

On my Apple machine, the file simply appears as a folder, which I can open and remove files from as I feel fit. But I realise now through your setback that perhaps this isn't the utopian 'Sufi way' when it comes to Windows machines.

I will endeavour to add a small note to the download area.

And may I thank you for being an aide in ironing out a glitch.

Seige. There is no need to worry yourself further. I have the "500 letters" but they are not really relevant to starving magicians and are more suited to big corporations.

The book itself is amusing me in that it describes the lowest rung of the close up entertainment ladder and the highest rung. Restaurants and trade shows are the two opposite ends of the spectrum since anyone who works trade shows on a regular basis isn't going to want to work for a measly 150 pounds a night in a restaurant.

Still I shall peruse the book and see what it has to say. I am always interested in learning how to become rich.

most interesting all this. Many thanks.

its great to pick brains.

Don't want to boast but I've been in sales a few years, as a side line to my normal work (which will remain a mystery to all but a select few on this forum for now  ) And have gotten used to various ways of marketting and communication. Including building websites.

In my 'other work' I regularly work with 50 to 500 people at a time, and keep them entertained and learning all the way. I try to mix the two (or as they say, when they're laughing, they're learning) I have a business which I am pleased to say I started with £50 3 years ago and, through means, changes and (dare I say as you might guess from my other postings) prayer, now have about 10 grand a year from a part time job coming in. (all tax sorted mr govenrment sir!). Never been in debt with it either even for loans and the like.

But the mysteries of the magic world and entertainment outside of this were an unknown. I will go and pick up the ebook and see if it lends light to what I am thinking about and i will pick up the differences. I like a challenge.

Allens commetns were invaluable.

As far as my previous post about loose scripting, on reflection I do loose script, but then work it over and over in my mind for days if not weeks, tweaking here and there. The result is I guess that it is nothing like loose scripting, and when it comes to performance I take the fantastic comments people make and integrate them, sometimes including them in future mental script revisions. I called it loose scripting because this is to me what it feels like. I just don't write it down.

I did some magic the other day in a pub with some people, and after an hour and a half with some mentalism (give it up for my first and succesful attempt at contact mind reading, what a buzz!), rope tricks and card tricks and STILL not reaching the end of what I knew, I realised it was about time I sat down and constructed some sort of proper routine.

Mind you, the reaction was so good that for the next day or so if something went missing they assumed that I had spirited it away somewhere. Magic without the effort, how cool is that!

Thanks so much for everyone's help
