I (on one or two occasions :S) said that I bet that I could mentally force them using magic to pick a specific card of a 52 card deck. I said I would prove it my turning one over in advance. Then I procceeded to win using the ID...

...I guess the nail writer would work just as well...

I guess that in a way, I am making money out of magic by writing and selling?

Anyway, back in 'the old days' when I performed a bit more, it wasn't uncommon to wrangle a couple of quid quite fairly.

Daft side bets on probability based magic effects work quite well with people, and I've never felt guilty about it. Although, this is mainly with people I know, not the general public.

The easiest way I can remember making a few quid was a simple coin based routine... with a 50p, a £1 and a borrowed £2. Have a coin in either hand, the £1 and the £2, and do a few 'guess which hand'. The finale is simply to switch out the £2 for the 50p, and tell the speccy that they will be able to keep BOTH hand's content if they guess which hand the 'larger' coin is in.

Of course, you make it obvious the £2 is in your 'X' hand, before the switch for the 50p, and therefore they pick the 50p. You give them your £1.50, and keep their £2. You've made 50p. Not a great effect, but simple and direct.

ah...but you could also say "the 50p is the larger coin" or "no, the £1 is larger as the other is only 50p"

;)

then you win that as well :P

What a cheeky scammer!

lol

The subtle ambiguity of the word 'larger' is my way of ensuring the speccy ALWAYS wins. Wheras, in fact, it is the MAGICIAN who wins!

Never earnt any real money mainly drinks..

I`ve been banned from a friends cards nights.........first time i played ....did`nt do any funny stuff but cleaned up.....

I was there on the off chance.....not planned to play.
I had a fiver on me and had to borrow a £20 to get in the game....as they use chips and divide pot according to chip value....£25 got me in game.

Managed to pay back the £20 i borrowed and left with £87 ....

I`ve never been allowed to play since even if i turn up.....
I normally do a few card tricks and get drunk now....

 I'm off to the arcades... I presume you mean on the "pushy" machines?! Winner! I have no qualms about ripping those guys off, half of them belong to organised crime types. Although, if you're caught, you could pay with more than a few pennies...

No body noticed, but my kid was amazed when I put 2p in the slot, moved (my leg) in closer covered the angle with my body, as not to show £2.50 worth of coins hit the glass..... ping... then drop to the bottom tray.

each of these machines has about 6-8 windowd sides depending on the type and in an average arcade there are about 6-8 of them, so if you did 1 machine 8x£2.50= £20 then times that by 8 machines = £160 you can finaly get your own back on the robbing ba*****s... I do not condone this type of behaviour....

I bet the Mods deleat this within miniutes.....

Two wrongs don't make a right as the saying goes.

The guys running these arcades may be villans but if you start ripping them off, then you're just as bad if you think about it.

Also, if you're caught then you stand a good chance of getting a good kicking out the back when no-ones watching.

If you think that's worth it then that's up to you. Sure, the odds are stacked high in their favour but if you don't accept that, don't play.
