Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

I used to carry a half dollar around with me while I was learning the Classic Palm and I'd have it palmed for alot of the time. It's a good way of practising this move, as you have no choice but to be natural with it if you're using your hands for other things.

All the best,

Currently plaming half dollars... can just about plam a 50p now.

Strangely enough, giant poker chips are VERY easy to palm :D

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

It is a good way to learn and if it can help you require a palm like Roth's, well...

Cheers,

Hi Ecko,

Larger coins are certainly easier to palm, try practicing with a 2p coin for a few days then when you go back to the 50p and the half doller you will see an improvement, I did (even with my arthritis)

I made my wife dissapear just by arguing with her!!!

In question on the Magic Cafe someone asked what the most difficult coin sleight was. There were many views (Muscle Palm etc), but Paul Chosse offered a very interesting view - the Classic Palm. Many do it, but few ever manage to do it well.
Reed McClintock will have a DVD coming out specifically on the CP. This has been on the stocks for well over a year now though.

People are always going on about how bad most palming is, but I suspect they are looking at it from a magician's point of view. As long as it fools laymen it's doing the job. It's good to get better at it, but it surely doesn't matter too much if you can't palm as well as Roth :) A bit of misdirection...

I was just about to say I'll post a video of me doing Jay Sankeys Warm Up Production which emplys my classic palm as is!

But it's alread been sort of seen in my slydini coin routine update. And given the amount of videos I've posted recently it's probably best if I lay off the whole recording thing for a while...

I pick up loads of things Stephen :D
I can write scruffily with a pen whilst palming now, but I can't get a lighter to work... hmmm

I'll keep plugging at it and hopefully you'll see me doing some good coin magic soon!

remember to keep both hands by your side and check they are both the same shape.

Hehe... thanks Stephen. I'm sure my palming would be awful if not for the countless tips you give me. Thanks dude! :D

I do keep both hands at my side. At the moment my right hand looks a bit more tense than my left hand, but as I keep doing the exercises and go for hours palming a coin it's becoming more natural looking (and I'm hardly ever dropping it now :D )

The warmup production is really nice. The action provides a lot of cover - it really sums up the idea of keeping the hand natural by using it for other actions, and the way you apparently see both hands empty is great. I'd like to see your version if you get the time

Got Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic yesterday. It's certainly a wealth of material, to the point where I'm overwhelmed with stuff to practice and I'm not sure what to do. I'm trying to type with a coin in CP at the mo and it's tricky (good work pitto!) but my palm is definitely good enough to fool any layperson. If anyone's interested in learning routines that require the CP I'd definitely recommend the above DVD as most of the stuff on it is quite simple in coin terms but you will need some solid basics and practicing it will give you this.
