Review
The notebook starts with a type of essay all about the “best performance ever” and is funny and well worth a read. I’ve emailed Mike a few times and he seems like a really nice guy. Sankey/Skutt is awesome and it immediately made me want to see more of Skutt’s work. The notes are funny and there’s some great stuff. There’s some overlap between S/S and this but there are new effects as well. Also, it is less than half the price of S/S and personally I like to have things in a hard copy as well.
Effects
Mr Coffee – (see my review of Sankey / Skutt and read “Mr Tea”
Mr Tea – nice little effect similar performance settings to the above, a coin appears in a tea bag.
Mugged – Break the handle of a mug and fix it back on!
The Odeon Production – see my review of S/S
Siamese Change – See S/S – just to add this is my favourite colour change!
Electric Company – coin bend in the spec’s hand!
Bender – a visual coin bend!
Dirty Laundry – A nice effect using a dryer sheet, which is pretty funny.
Dryer Sheet Coin Production – this is very visual. A sheer Silk (sp) could be used to maintain a classier look but I love the fairness and normality of a dryer sheet.
Couple Card – See S/S
The ol’ Coin up the nose – See S/S
Lend Me a hand – 3rd hand effect great for stage
Overall
I think these notes are well worth a look, the only problem being Mugged, Mr Tea and Mr coffee are designed for an impromptu setting but require a fair bit of set up. I’d do the set up though if I new I was going for coffee!
Value for money: 9/10
Effects: 8/10
Overall: 8/10
