I agree completely with making it look as natural as possible. I've tried a few different passes and use several different ones regularly based on the situation I'm in.

I normally use the classic pass to control a card to the top. I square up the deck after having the card replaced and look at the spectator as I start pattering. As soon as you get eye contact I do the pass and separate my hands immediately. In their peripheral vision all they see is you talking and your hands being apart. They isn't enough time for something to have happened whilst they weren't looking (in their heads, at least).

The pass is a very fun move to try and slip past people. Especially magicians. There's a suttle gloating feeling inside when a magician didn't spot your pass whilst showing him a card trick. Here's a tip, after doing the pass keep your little finger in the deck like you're still holding a break. If they spot it they'll think their card hasn't moved yet. Learn the pass, go out, use it and have fun!!!!!

I'll second that. I was showing a magician a card trick and I'd just made the pass ina breif moment where he looked away. I kept a break and he looked down and around and said "I hope you aren't planning to pass that card..." blissfully unaware of the fact it was already done.
If you can swing it by magicians you can get it over a layman no probs

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

In my opinion, the Ninja series is terrible at teaching you practical ways to do a pass. They do teach you the basics, but many of their techniques are impractical for passing.

The classic pass (well its sorta the classic pass Evan Kim style because I rock the deck) is something you have to learn after you master the basic motions if you're learning from the ninja series. You can PM me for details.

This video is my pass after roughly 4 weeks (and this is talking completely new to where I'm at), I've been practicing for 6 weeks now.

yeah. i agree that your pass in the video is a little too fast and too jerky. but it's a good pass nevertheless.

say, if u're trying to control a card to the top, what i do is i moved the half with the controlled card slighty jogged to the front while passing, end up with squaring acting. this squaring action is actually genuine as the packs are obviously unaligned. also, i tend to use only my right index and middle for all the actions (right handed) while keeping my ring and pinky perfectly still and touching each other. that way it'll look as if nothing had happened.

i don't quite agree with what alot of people said about speed as a way to improve a pass. this dude from Passing With Care dvd actually did a 10 second pass which is absolutely invisible. maybe you should check it out. i can't do it yet. working on it.

pm me if u want to discuss more on this matter. be happy to.
