hasnt been that long actually...been practising for maybe 6 months or so but i read a lot so thats why i kinda know what im talking about most of the time

fave trick?... well at the moment one of my favourite is "coin unique" or "penacoin" but theyre more what id call gimmicks, one of my favourite card tricks would have to be either "aces to queens" or "voodoo ash" both of these usually freak people out

also ive been known to fool around with thread and magnets so id say they can be quite good too

what about you?

<<<Seige butts in... hoping not to be too intrusive or appear as an eaves-dropper... >>>

Hi there...

Seems like Mog's finally found someone who kicked his @ss! (only joking m8!). Just read this thread to see what I was missing, and couldn't help notice that I think all of us here are pretty similar... movies, arts, humour... it's great! Although I'm c*** (not the best) at martial arts - I did Judo training when I was about 13 (seems like many moons ago) and after about two months I got decked like a sack of spuds and ripped a ligament in my knee - which turned me off the idea a tad. Especially as it was an 8 year old girl who slammed me!

Anyway...

There's a real thrill in amazing people with magic, and it's so important that this 'underground' activity is propagated on forums like this - to allow people to speak to other who are 'trainee magi' like us! Also, the deeper you get inside the forum, you'll notice that we're always happy to help *genuine* people.

It's so nice to see threads veering off the magic side of things and seeing into people's personality a bit (although we've been criticised for it!!! )

I've noticed also (apart from all the socialising!!!) that you guys are going on about Wayne Dobson. Funnily enough, I was thinking of going to see him in June... does he perform with Pasquale, or am I getting the wrong message?

I personally can just about hack Pasquale - and before a certain lady in here verbally assaults me - I admit that I agree partially with Mog that he's a squeaky little git - but pretty damn funny in a sort of bold, genuis type of way... but I DO think Dobson's an unsung British hero. Alakazam magic stocks a whole range of his stuff to qualify this, and what I've seen of him and read goes far beyond the UK media's representation of him as a 'Butlins' style entertainer.

I think you've swung me in that direction, thanks. I was going to see Derren Brown, but unfortunately his gigs are chocka, and there's only been one near where I live that would have been logistically viable - so Wayne Dobson - here I come! I'll probably get a bit sozzled first so that Pasquale actually appears amusing (Seige pours salt into the wound already made by the mighty and wise Mog)!!!

By the way, NSF (is it all right if I abbreviate, or can we call you Katie???), good luck with your magical path. As you can tell from Mog and me - it sends you a bit batty, but I think you're already half-way there

Don't try and write as much as I do - or people will accuse you of being a sad git with too much time on your hands...

I've not seen Pasquale live, but I'm hoping that his routine isn't the same old 'squeaky little bloke' stuff. He's pretty funny, but even you must admit that he could potentially get on your nerves?

Hmm... maths and French... are you school or sixth-form? Glad to see you've got enough sense to take time out for recreation amongst all your study - too much work and no play can turn you into, erm, a kind of 'all-worky, no play-ey' type person, err, I think??!?!?!

Good luck with your academics, and keep the questions coming... we're all here to help!!!

Ciao for now...

Thanks NSF...

Yes... I did get 'floored' by an eight year old girl - she landed a flat-foot kick to the side of my leg - I went down on the mat, writhing in agony.

I got taken by car to the hospital, and hobbled into the waiting room - in my white Judo kit... the doctor who actually looked at my leg almost split his sides when I told him what I'd done... so I learnt from this, and at when I went back to school with one of those horrible crutches, I managed to swing it round and tell my mates 'one of the bigger boys did it', which worked for a while

Anyway, I digress...

I'm quite looking forward to the Dobson/Pasquale gig - even though my main reason for going is obviously Dobson.

I shall go in with a totally open mind, and try and enjoy Joe's performance. If it gets too irritating - I'll just put up with it - on your recommendation!

Good luck again for tomorrow...

Done all that.

Cannock's my closest, and was on the ORIGINAL list.

I've checked Wayne's website, got box office details etc.etc.etc...

It seems that the list posted earlier is predominantly Squeeky Joe gigs, with Wayne appearing at just a couple.

Wayne WAS around my neck of the woods, but it was during May, so I've missed him!

Never mind, always another time...

Ho hum.

Want to get to Milton Keynes to see Andy Nyman (7th, I think).
So all is not lost - I'll get my dose of magic!

How did the French exam go??? Did you 'faites un bon effort' or 'ne pas faire tellement bien' ???

I used to love French - and although it seems years ago since I did my GCSE's, I can still remember it - mainly due to lots of trips to France, where you can practice for real on the natives!!!
(Un grand bierre, s'il vous plait, Pierre...! is just about all you need to know when you're 19 years old on a Stag Weekend!!!!)

Thanks for all the advice, NSF... and I'll hope to see WD and JP soon.

Cheers!
