I had never heard of smoke and mirrors, i recently did a bit of research on it, and due to CUPS ordered one, hope its as good as people say, well my favourite book would have to be, close up card magic by harry lorayne.

You will love it honest. Once you've read that get Dear Mr Fantasy. Another great book on card magic.

"Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic" without a doubt. The best single magic book out there for the money. It is a must have.

Wow, I can't believe I missed it, or that anyone else didn't say it... But what about Tarbells course in magic?

'Magic & Showmanship' by Henning Nelms...

This book gives me 'food for thought' everytime I re-read it, I have made many notations on its pages and could work forever with the concepts held within.

I believe the human-mind creates the most amazing magic on a daily basis, it's just a matter of being mindful...

I'm sure everyone knows what I'm going to say, but it's got to be Mark Wilson. Something for just about everyone in there.

Hard choice, but I'd probably have to say Close up Illusions by Gary Oullet.

This book is huge, to read through it once is a job. I'd be practical and take something rubbish to the desert island that I could use for the fire.
