Healed & Sealed - Size of Can?

Postby civins » Aug 10th, '06, 08:38

Hi Guys.

I am currently practising "healed and sealed". I am doing it with a can of coke - It's currently a but untidy - but I'm getting there.

What size of cans can it be done with? for example - is it possible to do it with a can of beer/lager. Lager cans in the Uk are 440ml.
(I don't want to waste good lager practising, if it's not possible!)

Thanks in advance.

It is possible with any size can. The principle on how it works is still the same. Keep everything proportional.

It's not the size that matters it's what's inside! Make sure that the can you use is made from recyclable aluminium, most are nowadays but it's best to check. Also many people find it works better with draught ale than lager, personally I've found lager works ok but just so you know.

Coca-Cola (The Real Thing!) is usually acknowledged to be the best and others have advised to avoid stores' own brand versions as they don’t react as well as real Coke. I've recently done this with a can of 7-Up and it worked fine. Beers and lagers tend to 'over react' if you know what I mean and it can look a bit suspicious. When David Blaine did it on one of his TV shows ages ago it was with a can of beer and it was very messy. The convincer is when you pour out the Coke into 2 or more glasses so the specs can see it's genuine - it also tends to mask the amount of liquid involved. If you do that with beer or lager, you'll probably just get froth! H&S with Coke works best if the can is very cold, half an hour in the freezer before preparation means you can stash the can wherever you like and leave it there for some considerable time before the motive force is gone.

With beer etc it's a case of trying out various cans and contents to see what works for you and what doesn't. You'll probably end up drunk as a skunk and smelling like a brewery but we all have to suffer for our art!

Personally, I've found larger cans (not LAGER, LARGER heeheh) work better.

For instance, taller beer cans seem to have a much more visual restore.

However, note that as mentioned, this is a proportions thing... the larger the can, the more effort required to restore, due to the volume.

Experiment! You don't exactly WASTE the contents do you?
