Jay Sankeys Revolution Count

Postby EckoZero » Aug 17th, '06, 06:27

Ok, so watching back through The Very Best Of Jay Sankey Volume 3 for inspiration, I came across this.

I've known this for months now. I practice it on trains, in taxis, on buses, when I'm sitting down doing nothing, when I'm doing anything basically...
Yet I'm still rubbish :(

So... any pointers anyone?

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

Not bad, Ecko.

You should take Sankey's advice and snap the cards downwards.

Also try and work on getting it faster. Most techniques require you to be able to do them slowly with good technique. This one, however, needs a bit of pace to it so the speccies can't see what's REALLY happening. All the speccies see is you count seven cards and the three cards they chose are face up between the other four. You don't need to go slow for them to understand that this is happening.

One thing other than the speed (and possibly before it) is to make sure it is consistent. The taking of each card must look exactly the same every time.

It's going good so far, and it can only get better from here.

Thanks for the kind words mate!

I'm sure we'll keep each other updated on our progress with learning the hardest count/sleight eVaR!!!11!!

Ahem.

I still reckon yours is probably better than mine though...

It is a beast of a count to be sure. I got rather peeved when I saw Forget Me Not and thought "What a super trick, I can't wait to learn that" then discovered it required the monstrous revolution count. I practiced and practiced and practiced and gave up, to date it's the only sleight I've put a concerted effort into learning and not got the hang of. I don't know why it's so tricky, the mechanics aren't that hard. Grrrr.

You did a good job though, just a bit quicker and that's performance ready I reckon.

It's used as part of a collectors routine. You show four of a kind, then show that all three selections have appeared between them using this count. Then you show you have only the three selections as if the four of a kind had disappeared. At least thats how Sankey uses it in his Collect Me Not routine.

I thought I'd share with you my Revolution count efforts. It's not as good as I'd like it to be but it's not as poor as it used to be either. It's getting there.
