Object Levitation

Hi, this is my first post. I saw this video of a guy levitating a cigrette very well and if you go to the link to buy the trick it says that there are no strings involved.

Without giving too much away I'm not asking for anyone to tell me how to do it but do you think it is possible for an amatuer to buy this trick and execute it as well as he has?

Erm, if you are going to purchase a trick, you should go to a recognized magic dealer, such as:

www.magictricks.co.uk

www.worldofmagic.co.uk

They should have what you are looking for.

And for yourself to pull of that trick with enough practise it is fairly easy to pull of, but it would be as simple as you get it out the box and are doing it to perfection in front of your mates within seconds, everything takes time.

OH and another thing pop over to the introduction section and introduce yourself please

Hi Milan, welcome to TM! Rest assured that just about every magic trick you've seen can be done by almost anyone who buys the trick/props, works hard at practice and presentation and adds a certain individuality to the whole thing. In magic all things are possible - especially the impossible which we do every day! Just do your research by checking various sites like TM for reviews and opinions and make your own mind up about whether the trick in question fits your style and if you think you'd be able to do it justice.

Its probably done with IT and they will charge you a extortionate amount just to tell you that. Try using a reputable magic dealer like www.magictricks.co.uk or www.nothingupmysleeve.co.uk. You could probably find it in Mark Wilsons "complete course in magic" or a similar book.

I have a very bad experience with DownloadMagic.com  and I would advice you not to buy magic from them.

Welcome to TM milan, but why don't you introduce yourself to the rest here? :D

Download magic is run by Steve Fearson. While I personally will never buy anything from downloadmagic again, the cigarette levitation is very good. Steve Fearson is really seems to be an interesting character. Some speak really highly of him, while others don't. My impression is that a lot of the stuff he brings out is a bit of a practical joke on the magic community

Thanks for the respones guys, I've only just started and usually do card tricks in front of friends/family etc. I wanted to do this trick in a bar/club and now that I know how its done, I would like some advice as I have a bit of a problem to lower the cigarette, is there anywhere where I could discuss this trick in more detail or if someone could PM me with some info to lower it (obviously not here as i do not want to give anything away).

It is a Steve Fearson trick and this guy in the video executes it extreamly well.

Regards

Milan

This is Steve Fearson's floating cigarette hookup...
Done quite well on the video you sent, although you can actually see the IT at some points.
But any way, you can find information about it in Fearson's book, and probably on most books about small object levitations and animations.
I also think Ammar showed it on one of his DVDs about levitations and animations, only he did it with a lifesaver (the candy).
