In terms of colour:

Reds are usually bright and perhaps the most effective.
Gold are nothing of the sort - they're yellow and slightly less bright. Not exactly all that startling as the light is similar to what you'd get with an ordinary old fashioned filament bulb torch.
Green are IMHO the worst of the bunch as they are not very bright at all. In darkened conditions they are OK to work with but in comparison to the other colours, they are very dim.
Blue are about as bright as the gold - OK but could be better.

My first choice would be red as they're the brightest and really do have that magic glow 'aura' around them.

As seige says above, the colour of the TT itself is even less relevant with D'Lites as the only time attention is on them is, or should be, when they're illuminated and probably in motion. If you practise a proper routine with them which would include ditching them unobserved the you'll end up clean as a whistle and nobody will know what you actually did.

I got a pair of red D'lites today and I LOVE them! They are so much fun! I highly recomend them. Also if you have a magician friend with some you can do some hilarious little routines. Like playing catch with it then saying "hey catch" to an onlooker, only to find he has nothing to catch! Fantastic I'm going to take mine everywhere.

They also have white ones, now. I'm assuming they'd probably be along the lines of the golds, as Mandrake described. I may have to look into them.

The Blue ones seemed kind of cool, but as others have said not as practical for a "stealing light" effect. However, on the Penguin site, I thought the demo video for them was well done, and the "light from cell phone" was a neat concept.

Stephen, you've seen the whites used in person? If so, how do they look in action?
