I still havent seen much of him... he reminds me of a blaine wannabee.. but one who actually has some skills.. from the little I have seen..

But he is young and plenty of time to prove himself.. providing he doesnt jump ship to escapism

He has a DVD now?

I haven't heard of him in awhile. Is he still, well ..ahem "chav"?

I just don't like his presentation at all, from the few videos I have seen of him.

I haven't seen anything that uses some hard sleights yet..

I don't see why everyone bashes TV magicians for not using complicated sleight of hand. By all means bash them if their magic isn't good enough, or if their presentation isn't up to much, but not for how skilled they may or may not be technically.

I wasn't trying to "bash" him. I just want to see something a little harder.

You make it sound like Magicians don't need skill. Probably not what you meant, but just saying.

But even so I think every Magi. needs to know some more complicated sleights etc.

Oh no I know you weren't bashing him, but I've seen it happen before for that reason.

Magicians need some skill, sure. It's certainly not essential that they are particularly demanding, not at all. I've garnered amazing reactions with a few basic sleights many times in the past. A few double lifts, shuffles retaining certain cards in certain places, that sort of thing, all can be used to good effect.

Before I derail this thread completely I've not seen much of Dynamo; he gets amazing reactions but I don't this his presentational skills are brilliant. However, this draws an interesting line I feel between a magician with his witty patter who is obviously just doing magic tricks and someone who is a little less clear-cut - if that makes any sense :D.

oh yes steaven i mean dynamo is still a chav, he was wearing all the gear when i saw him. he is good at xtreme card magic which i must say i cannot do.
more than likely will get the dvd tho as gotta support the art. sometimes i see these guys on the street doing there thing and im like "hey i can deliver this stuff so much better and also they are doing the material in which i know" maybe i should just do it.
but still hats off to the fella for getting out there and chasing his dream, im still stacking bananas for pennies :x

Interesting post with a few different avenues being explored.

For my money I also don't like Dynamo's presentation skills but I can still respect him for being out there and for doing it and I wish him every success. He's bring magic to the masses which helps generate new interest in our art.

I think that he's found a niche as the so called 'better magicians' won't go into the clublands to perform where Dynamo performs, so he's reaching people who haven't expereinced close up magic before.

I also don;t think Dynamo is trying to be like Blaine. He may come across that way but it might just be that they have similar beginnings. I actually do think that he's being himself and is perhaps just naturally like Blaine in some respect. Don't dislike Dynamo just because you don't like Blaine - give the kid a chance.

If the specs like card through window then he's giving them what they like. If we're honest we all have favourite tricks that we perform over and over again. I don't think that it's a big deal at the stage of his career.

Just my thoughts....
I actually met the guy at the Blackpool convention 3/4 years ago (I can't rememeber which), he was young,Brum (although he might be from Sheffield I can't remember that either) and full of cum.. But in technical abilty and knowledge he was amazing... name a move and he could do it... and tell you where it originated and trust me people did.

Now I know he may be considered a bit "street" but having seen him in a enviroment full of other "magicians" I have nothing but admiration for him.

Please don't judge this guy on what you see on the telly before you know the real person, after all who would want to watch a magical history teacher?..other than a magic student.
Hes obviously being told what to show of his skills by some media agent and to get the publicity to sell hes doing ok I guess... a lot of people I have performed too have mentioned his name already and I wish him the best of luck.

the guy is well skilled but there is something that bugs me  i guess you can be well skilled yet you can find it diificult to present the trick well as you have been studying the moves of the effect without thinking about the presentation. oh well keep up the good work dynamo if your out there and could you post me one of your baseball caps as i think there pukka  :)

I think Delude put it best with:

but again, it's a matter of preferance. He is, however, supporting our art, something for which we should be grateful.
