Brainwave or Invisible

I've just read the effect of both of these decks and can't really tell the difference. Is one more versatile than the other?

I asked the same question earlier.....they are both the same decks (in principle) but give a different appearance to the effect......peronal choice really.....however, I like the ID because I can repeat perfomances when needed, and the deck always stays the same colour.....don't like the different colour idea when it comes to red once, blue the second....feels dodgy to me!

i like ID better then the Brainwave for the same exact reason. and if you have two decks and you want to do more normal card tricks before or after, the deck color issue wont be a problem. unlike the brainwave

?!~

For crying out loud, the msn button under my name is to talk about magic with me, NOT A FREE MAGIC GIVEAWAY LINK. dont abuse it

To be fair, cards4magic sell Brainwave decks that are the same colour both sides.

And personally I think the branwave and ID are just as powerful and useful as each other. It's only whether peole can be bothered to put in the presentation and practice (yes... practice, with a deck like this :P ) to get the use out of both. ID is arguably easier to present, so many will go for that.

Although using the brainwave has the advantage that not so many people are doing it

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

ID is a little more 'idiot proof'.

Best one for me then!

I still think the Brainwave Deck is the better. But hey, if everyone else wants to use the ID, I'll happily use my Brainwave :D

I have an "ID" but I never use it - I keep Kolossal Killer in my wallet.

Brainwave/Invisible Decks & Non Faked version

Postby Allen Tipton » Nov 29th, '06, 12:43

:) Have you ever checked out the Alan Shaxon,'A Super Brainwave Pack?'
It's on pages 48 to 50 in his first book, My Kind Of Magic. This pretty well combines both BW & In and gets the Climax right. ie. one card is reversed with a red back. Laid aside as you show the deck is blue backed. The reversed card is turned face to the audience to show the named card. Correct Applause cue.
In Roy Johnson's booklet, Lucky Cards a card is named. If it has Win on its back the spectator wins the prize. His asked for card is the only one with Lose on it. Roy gives 2 methods.Roy's original method can be adapted with 2 seconds preparation to an ORDINARY deck for Brainwave. ANY card is asked for. It is pulled out of the deck., laid down. The decks backs are all blue. The chosen card is picked up and it's red backed. No force. No faked deck. Hm. Thinking caps on guys. It Is easy.BUT DON'T reveal your solutions here on the Forum.

Walter Gibson has an interesting approach in his Complete Illustrated Book of Card Magic. The selected card has a different colour back but is not turned over. It works on the same principle as one of the well-known mechanical decks sold in the street - or by Marvin.........
