Hi Guys, just wondering if any one can reccommend a particular watch or style?

I have seen several out there ranging from £30 up to £90. Ths seems to be a vast difference, obviously for some reason (Other than profit!)

Are there any real differences? Like quality of watch, effect, working and the like? If so can any one reccomend where is the best place to purchase from?

I bought mine last night off ebay, but i went for the stainless steel one, i only cost me £32 with a "best offer" option and then 4.50 packaging and posting. Was really happy with that. Hope its as good as it looks! I think the only difference is that one is the updated version. If you take a look on the penguin magic website it shows you all of the watches and a little bit about them. Hope this helps!

I saw this on eBay and was very tempted to make an offer or just "buy it now" at £50. This is a great price considering it costs between £90-100 from the usual UK magic dealers; and at £32, I think you got yourself a real bargain there.

Do let us know what you think when you receive it. I have just added the Master's Time Machine to my wish list so I'd be interested in your thoughts on it.

Does anyone know if the metal strap is adjustable if I take it to a watch repairer or jeweller? I assume it's not one of those elasticated one-size-fits-all straps.

It is adjustable. You might be able to alter it on your own, as it's just a matter of removing a pin, altering the strap and then replacing the pin - or you might want to play it safe and take it to a jewellers .

I don't think that it's an elastic strap (I'm certainly hoping not anyway, lol), but from looking at a video from penguin magic website (i think i saw it on their website but on if not it's certainly on youtube) and if you watch closely to him taking off the watch it seems to be a clasp on one side and then solid metal, from other things i have read i also think that the watch can be adjusted at a local jewelers as that is where it recommends taking it to get the battery changed. My main concern is that it may not be waterproof which would be a downer as i like to put things on and keep them on, haha. I'll keep you informed how the watch is though, and the guy said that he'd post it on Monday. I'm very happy with the price i paid for it though, and I'll post my review once I've got it, practiced and tested it out. Darn Derren Brown for getting me interested in this sort of magic.

Also i have just noticed that someone is listing a "black" time machine watch, that is not listed on the penguin website, the strap (in my opinion) looks a lot nicer than the normal leather one and at £30 including P and P could be a bargain for someone! though I'm not sure on the posting of websites on the forum so i wont link directly to it, I'm sure that if you take a look on ebay you'll find it. Seems like a really nice example of the watch

evildead4eva, I noticed the black watch on eBay but not I'm not sure about how durable it would be (good price, though). Besides, I prefer metal watches, anyway.

The metal watch was much more my style as well, i was just thinking about taking it on and off and the strap seems quite nice on that one rather than the leather strap it seems like a fabric one. I'll keep people posted on how it is when i get it, and if I'm allowed i will link to some photo's i will take of it for others to get a better idea of what it is like.

Well, I got paid today (and also got paid a nice little bonus!). With the money burning a hole in my pocket , I have just purchased this from eBay for £40. I am well chuffed with this considering the best UK dealer price I could find was £90.

Next up, I will be contacting Mike Danata tomorrow to renew my Reel Magic subscription....

Anyone know if I can use a PK magnet on this watch without damaging it? Otherwise I'll just give it a go and hope for the best [gulp]....

Received my Master's today and absolutely love it. This will take a bit of practice and there is definitely a bit of a knack to it, but I think it will be well worth the effort. The watch itself is very nice quality and I have adjusted the strap to fit my wrist (a bit fiddly but I got there in the end!) It doesn't quite match my Seiko Kinetic quality-wise, but this is to be expected. It is still a very nice watch. The instructions, however, were not that good although this was not really a problem. This watch is great.

EDIT: I just tried this on my wife and she was very impressed. She didn't even notice that I was wearing a new watch. Now she won't stop nagging me to tell her how it's done.

Honestly, fantastic. really. WOWOWOWOWOWOW. really impressive trick if done properly, really well made (though no second hand and personally i think that the pointers could be glow in the dark which would be nice).

Here's my review.....


The watch itself seems fairly well made, it's got adjustments that are possible to do yourself on the strap and i found it needed adjusting in 6 notches (though I'm surprised as i have big wrists, or so i thought, so this is obviously made with the largest wrist in mind). The watch seems to keep good time but I've only had it for a couple of days, and with the trick being performed several times the clock has been reset on many occasions. I work on a oil plant and so far over the past 2 days its taken a few knocks and has survived, also has been sprayed with water and was perfectly fine, though I'm nervous about testing it for water resistance. The watch looks nice and wouldn't be out of place with a shirt on. Overall the instructions where a bit poor, but i think that this this trick is pretty self explanatory once you know the basics and can work it into a routine or use it as a trick when people "ask to see one".

Ease of use 2 (1 being easiest and 5 being hardest). The reason i give it a 2 is because the trick is simple to master but requires a bit of practice to make it look really effective.

Rating. 9/10 . The only downside is that the pointers aren't glow in the dark (which i see as a negative) and also there is no second hand. Though these are small faults I'm trying to pick them with a pretty much faultless item.

10/10 As i work night shift i found that this watch DOES glow in the dark. though if anyone can tell me if it is waterproof i would really appreciate it!!! Hope this review helps as it has been edited, though i left in my mistakes and pointed out where i edited so people can leave feedback
