Review Section help

Can I just check check the rules before I add some reviews...

(1) If someone else has already done a review, and ours is significantly different, do we put it at the bottom of their thread or start a new one.

(2) Are all the book reviews in the 'Book Review' forum. I.E. If a book isn't reviewed in that forum then it hasn't been reviewed?

(3) If the book you're thinking of reviewing is out of print, only available second hand, etc. can you still review it?

My own opinion is that (1) if the review is significantly different it should have its own thread. But if the review is largely the same, or disagreement with the first, then it should be kept in the same thread. (3) Since the book may become available, or you might stumble across it at a dealer fair, or find it second hand, then it's worth reviewing.

If these rules are covered somewhere that I couldn't find then

It's appreciated if a new Review could be added to the existing one to aid comparison but there aren't any rules as such. It may not be quite so necessary now we have separate Review sections as spotting previous reviews on the same book should far easier than in the old all encompassing Review area. What we'd prefer to avoid is a Review from one member on Monday, a separate one on Wednesday and another one on Friday.

Not all the book (or other) reviews have been transferred, that would take yonks so will be a very gradual process. It's perhaps best to check if there's an existing Review somewhere but no reason why a new one couldn't be posted in the new Areas as we hope that's where folks will look first for information. Reviews of second hand books are OK as long as it's made reasonably clear otherwise we'll have lots of posts asking where it can be ordered from.

Personally I love trawling second hand bookshops and market stalls in the hope of finding an old magic book and I've found one or two like that this year. Nothing earth shattering or rare but very nice to have and read through.

In once bought a boardgame from a jumble sale that had 3 ancient 'adult' magazines inside under the board. For an 11 year old it was quite a result! And the game was good to.

No magic books in 2nd-hand shops unfortunately.
