Thanks again for all your encouragement folks. I'm putting together a list of ideas for tricks that can involve wedding rings and the right sort of patter so thanks for all the suggestions and tips there.

Fantastic news!

I did my first wedding two weeks ago and I can assure you the nerves will go once you have you first effect in the bag. From there it is great fun as everyone is in a good mood.
Even when I botched a trick no one was bothered in fact they cheered and urged me to try again and it turned out to them like I'd done it on purpose.
Yes there will be a few people who don't want to see magic but just move on to the people who are keen.
I find Gregory Wilsons Ring Leader DVD a fantastic borrowed ring and rope routine you can have lots of fun with which has buckets of material to work on.
Again congratulations and try not to get too nervous just really look forward to it cause it's a hoot.

Just out of interest, were you specifically looking for work when you got the booking or was it by chance and you gladly accepted?

If you are doing a reception there is an ideally suited trick that I feel it would be rude not to perform - Anniversary Waltz. If you are not familiar with the trick, it involves both members of the happy couple each signing a card across the face. They are then separately lost in the deck. One turns over in the middle, followed by the next, and they are seen to be next to one another. The amazing ending is the two cards are placed between two hands (of the couple) and they fuse into a DF'er, signed both sides. It is one of the most amazing and emotionally powerful tricks you can do. You can find it here, here and here. The last one is the only one I could find for UK (bar ebay etc.). Well done on your first booking, hope it goes well.

Edit: I also do a trick whereby a ring is placed on a bolt and a padlock used to ensure it cannot get off. Naturally the ring escapes, and I produce it from my pocket. You can see it here. On a sidenote, I am looking for a better revelation for this effect - if anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful - something like it being found within a sealed container would be great!

I also suggested (pm) that she do "The Anniversary Waltz" that appears on the third DVD/video by Doc Eason.

I agree this a perfect effect for the occation.

Now, I don't know the method for the above effect (though I'm asuuming it's not actually supernatural), and I don't have the following effect either (but I think I can roughly guess the method - and, in any case, the description specifically says you can use a ring instead), but couldn't you combine your effect with Eggink's Exit:

Mind you, I wouldn't do this with the bride's ring. For a start, she may not want to take it off (I never, ever remove the ring my girlfriend got for me - I don't know how married people's brains work, but suppose they could function like that too). And, even if she does give it to you, well... you know. 'This symbol of your unique and intimate bond, received one this very day... W-hey! It's down me shirt!' Less than sensitive.
