wedding in june

Postby russellmagic » Dec 28th, '06, 23:50

hi chaps. im going to do my cousins wedding in june and wanted to get a card in bottle trick and a cap in bottle trick to play with before the big day. do you guys recommend anything also some effects i could possibly do. i have a rough idea. was thinking of a few quality card tricks, sponge balls for the kids. torn and restored napkin would go down a treat to i think. want to do a bill in lemon trick but since its walk around i don't think it'll be to practical. i so have to get the coin in bottle trick. i have passing thru, but theres something about the gaffed coin one i just love. anyway what do you guys think. cheers. andy

Lady of Mystery posted about her first booking awhile back, it was at a wedding. You should check that thread for some good suggestions.

Bill in Lemon always goes down well at weddings. There's a great version of this using a kiwi fruit on Martin Sanderson's Corporate Close up DVD (reviewed somewhere on TM by yours truly).

Personally, I'd avoid cap in bottle, particularly if it's Rey Ben's version as it can't be performed with any bottle. I also found that coin in bottle can also be a bit naff for weddings / walkabout.

Keep with the sponges, , keep the torn and restored napkin, get a TT, get a chop cup, a deck of cards, some rope, a coin unique and you're set for hours of entertainment. And don't forget the ID of course.

cheers to you dat, you have been great help. was reading the bobo book at work and can see how coin in bottle could be a problem with angles and misdirection particularly with a big group. i will def purchase at some point tho coin unique, and martin sandersons dvd. also a chop cup is on the list. i love the chop cup. thanks once again. andy :) oh no just thought i have to get fiber otics as well!!

I can't recomend Fibre Optics enough. It's one of the best DVD's that I've ever bought.

Doing a linking ring routine with a patter of "two lives joined as one" for example always works well at weddings....Peronsally I do "Immaculate connection" which is a linking ring effect using playing cards......always does well. Consider some work with rings as well...I do a Jay Sankey effect, I beleive it is called "Stirling silver"....would have to look it up though....but it also does well.....I have done a few weddings as of late, if I can be of any help don't hesitate to PM me....

Etienne Pradier has a nice signed card in sealed wine bottle trick that he does at weddings. Can't remember what it's called but Alakazam probably stock it.

Ring magic always goes down well at weddings also. Trcick such as ring flight

http://www.magicbox.uk.com/shop.php/shop/magic-tricks/close-up-magic/ring-flight/p_503.html

Or Northbound

http://www.magicbox.uk.com/shop.php/shop/magic-tricks/close-up-magic/ring-flight/p_503.html

Are both very fitting to the performance. Alot of people tell me that the simpler things are the harder it will hit the audience when you do a harder trick. Build up with simple tricks and then finish with a bang. :D

Hope thats helped

Sam

Something i find brilliant for weddings is asking to borrow the brides wedding ring and vanising it. Then tell her i cant find it and bring out a cheap tacky ring as a replacement, and playing on that for a while then say actually ive got one more piece of magic that might bring it back then obviously bring it back it always gets a laugh and a big sigh of relif  .

Dat's idea of sponges is of course great, I didnt see it in one elses post but I think a good ring on string routine is ideal for weddings, I would go for ring leader by Gregory Wilson. And the bottle production from the secrets of close up magic by David stone would be good at a wedding.
Then do the signed card in the botle that bronz recomended.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.
