bored at work

I'm bored here at work waiting for the clock to hit half five. Someone give me something interesting to think about...

Well, I've been clock-watching too. Today is my first day back at work since Xmas.

And here's what's kept me occupied this afternoon... (sorry Lady—but it's magical, and mystical, and if it DOESN'T keep you going, then nothing will ;))

Basically, I've been trying to compile a list of items and instructions which would be an ideal 'pro-amateur magician starter kit'.

NOT like a Marvin's set... but, knowing what you know and with me being a bit more old-school, I've so far come up with:

1. Regular deck of cards, with 10 sleights & effects
2. Sponge balls & routine
3. 4 half-dollars, & routine
4. IT & IET & routines
5. TT & routines
6. Silks
7. Gaff cards
8. Encyclopedia of magic terms (i.e. what's Gaff mean, what's a steal, what's a load etc....)

Whadda ya think?

Alternatively, my other mission du jour is working out a decent uPnP media player and server solution, but I gave up on that at about lunchtime ;)

Strechout you right arm with your hand face up. Bend it towards you. Bend it 90 degress in front of your tummy. Move it away from the body 90 degrees.
Bend it 90 degress (like before) towards you. Bent it 90 degree in front of your tummy agains. Finally Move it away 90 degrees. You should now be back where you started except that you hand (without you haning turned it) is face down!!!

PS. Make sure no-one from work see you doing this. They might think you have gone mad!!!

Magic is slight of mind!

Nice idea Seige, how about including an expanded shell and maybe a magnet or two.

Soren, I lost track of that half way through, will try again...

me too...well, second day back, just as boring as the previous one...im shifting jobs soon to an Internal Media unit or other...

i have been amusing myself with a cocktail stirrer (steady on) by doing some hotrod type moves, showing both sides and the writing is green...a quick shake and the writings red on both...

that lasted about 5 minutes though...

i have also been browsing for either a mini-mac or a laptop...cant really decide...so i've knocked that on the head...AND i've been a good boy and only ordered Get Nyman from alakazam today...i've had his lecture notes for ages now...but just wanna see the diamond perform more than anything else...

thought about magnets...a rather attractive woman i met in a pub last night....oh and where to live too...might move into central london, so i've been looking at places today...

in the meantime Lady of Mystery, i would like you to think about....erm.....dunno...have a look through these sites if you dont already...

Re: Get Nyman...

I reviewed this here and on Online Visions, and it's still one of my favourite DVDs. A good buy ;)

I think it's very difficult to package things in such a way. It's like trying to abridge Complete Course with equipment.

Why not supply the Complete Course In Magic with cards, special cards, coins, silks, rope, elastic bands, napkins, sponge balls andcups & balls? It would be unwise to include rabbits, doves and lemons. :)

Is there a contemporary equivelant book you could do the same with? One that would warrant TT, PK, etc? If there is, I'll take it!

When i bored at work and i actually dont get bored very often i upset some one i work with, this is not a good idea as they are all rather large chaps who work in home contents logistics.

Seige I really dont want any beginers getting hands on sponge balls they are all mine! Silks now silks are good. because you can combine the silks with silk to sponge ball , card through silk and stuff like that. How about a gaff deck too all in a very nice case contraption?

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

The one thing that gets me through work at the moment is my MP3 player and the Ricky Gervais Podcast Collection. It's sooo funny, i can't get enough of Karl Pilkington's daft theories, and Gervais's infectious laugh.

I think he is both annoying and quite funny at the same time.

When I get bored at work, I practice throwing cards.. at peoples heads!! Or I clng half dollars purposely on the table to annoy the hell out of my managers.. they cant tell me to stop as its not against company policy..

I also play Pingu and Pingu Xtreme.. Google it and select the geocitities site... funny game.. old but very very addictive and funny.. also play mini putt.. and flash strike.. Oh and we have this Giant water filled darts game at work too.. that takes up time.. along with the cricket set the managers brought in and bowling.. watching deal or no deal.. sky ports news.. come dine with me and cheesy films on sky movies!! and the beloved Xbox which is always hosting Pro Evo 6 and boxing ( I forget the name )

I honestly dont know how I manage to over hit targets every day when I spend as much time online as I do!!

I work at home, for myself. I have all the freedom in the world to do as little as I please and not pay the rent. :( It's hard sometimes.

Well at least your rewarded for it

I do very little and dont get any incentives. Apart from being able to listen to whatever I want. Currently going through a Miles Davis phase....nice....great.

I like that xtreme pingu by the way. It passed the time. My current best score is a pleasing 836metres.
