The Elmsley count is nothing short of spectacular - but the key is practice, practice, practice.

The best source of advice for such things is the Royal Road to Card Magic...

I assume you're familiar with the basic mechanics of the count?

The two top tips I've got to offer are to use CLEAN and straight cards, and concentrate on the pressure you use to hold the cards....

In the case of both hands, the hands should be palm-up, with the fingertips all touching, with the thumb on top (uppermost).

Keep a light touch, and try to keep the cards moving fluidly. Remember - keep the left hand still and let the right hand do all the moving - this way, it looks more like you're really dealing the cards.

Look in a mirror - and do a REAL four card count. Watch how a REAL count looks, and try to model your Elmsley on the REAL count.

We can't give secrets away in this area - just advice.

hmmm...I can't remember the Elmsley Count anywhere in RRTCM.

There are two grips that I have seen for the count: in the fingertips and into the left hand mechanics grip. The latter is much easier to perform smoothly as you have more control of the cards.

Get Daryls encyclopedia for excellent demonstrations and instructions on this and others....I can't believe how "worth the money" this set of DVDs is!

You may be right about RRTCM, actually, although I do have the Hardback version, which I'm sure is slightly different...
