Hello everyone

Hello everyone!

My name is Phate, and I'm from the Netherlands, so please remember that English isn't my first language before you start cursing at me. ;)

I'm not a beginner in magic, but I'm certainly not a pro either. I don't do much shows, just a birthday party every now and then. I do practise all my tricks at school, and they love them. :P

That's about it... Just one more thing: I'm not a big fan of gimmicks, I love the sleight of hand. ^^

If there are any questions: just ask, I won't throw "tulpen" at you. :P

Goedendag en van harte welkom aan TalkMagic.

I hope you will enjoy yourself around here, it's an interesting place to be.
But if you don't behave yourself... ik vervloek u in het Nederlands, als u houdt van :)

Thanks for the warm welcome! :P Maybe it's a good idea to make everyone here talk Dutch, seen the fact that at least one person can do it. ;)

Welcome, Phate. How old are you? I'm fifteen and I practice at my school, too. What trick do you get the best reaction from? Everybody at my school loves the quarter bite trick.

I'm 14 years old. :)

The love the tricks that I can do with a Stripper Deck, and they were amazed by the Invissible Deck.

But that are special decks, and not card tricks. A trick that works very good on them is Hitman from Penguin Magic. They think their card isn't there, but when you hit the cards in their hand, they all fall on the floor, except for the card they picked.

Another one they really like is the following: I place the four Aces on the table and ask them wich one they like best. I ask them to follow that card. I place the 4 aces on the deck, and flip them face-down one by one. When thats done, I deal them on the table again, and start moving them around. I tell them, that if they can tell me where their card is, they'll get €5,-. When they flip a card, they'll find out that all four aces changed into four Kings. That really freaks them out. They'll find it more impressive if you do everything really slow. :) (I can't explain the trick to you, but if you don't already know it: it's on MagicHat.co.uk, and it's called "Twisted")

One little hint: don't try to make anything levitate at school, or at a public place. People won't believe it's really floating, and will grab the thread if you're using one. That's a little bit embarrising...

Another trick that works really good is Stigmata. I downloaded it yesterday, and it's worth the money! It's all up to your presentation, and when performed, you can entertain almost everyone with it. Or scare them, if you like. And when there is a girl you like, you can use it to really impress her. ;)
