Ok, I really want to get Blizzard. Seems like a great trick. My question is to pay the 21 dollars to get it or just buy a blank deck (5 dollars) and cut out the bottom. I already know how the the trick is done, i have the explanation video. I don't think its worth 21 dollars so my question is buy the whole trick or buy the blank deck and cut out the bottom of the box. I have also read that the box you slide over the regular deck is bigger so if a cut it out myself how much will that effect it? Thanks

If the video you have got is one that should come with the effect, buy the effect.

If the video is one that someone has made up to expose the effect, buy the effect and burn the video.

Either way, pay for something, don't steal the idea.

Sure, thats what they all say. So tell me, just why did you watch the video if you already had it worked out?

You still haven't said how you come to have the explanation video without the product, or if it is even one that is made with the manufacturers permission.

I watched it to see if my theorie was correct. Its impossible to see in the penguin magic preview because they don't show the switch, i was curious and i was also correct.

My friend gave me the video

So, are you a chef? Because at the moment, all we know about you is that you were given a video, which you only watched once, to confirm what you knew.
If your friend gave you the video, why couldn't he confirm your theory? Something doesn't add up.

Just go out and pay for magic. I would normally point you towards soome books where you can learn alot more, both effects and performance wise.

I just don't feel you would take notice though.

I honestly hope you will prove me wrong.
What books etc do you have that you have bought?

Buy the effect. Give the creator what he deserves for coming up with it. Simple as that.

You may want to edit your first post as well, it's verging on exposure.

Dal, By now I am sure you are getting the picture. If you want to do the trick, buy the effect. Why? Because you did not come up with this trick. You may have worked out how it was done, but the trick only exists bacause someone else took the trouble to conceive the idea and work out the presentation. For that they deserve to be paid.

If the shoe was on the other foot. Would you be happy to have YOUR routine ripped off just because soemone else reverse engineered your tirck and decided to make there own.

New magic only exists because creative people are preprared to share there ideas with others. And for that they need to be paid.

It's easy to copy. It's much harder to be creative.

My rule is: if I like it and expect to use it I will pay for it even if I know how it was done.

Dal

You typify what is becoming an abhorred subulture in magic at the moment...

The Leecher.

Fantastic... if you want to do it, do it in private.

FYI, Dean Dill, the creator of this effect was in a really bad car crash about a year ago.
He survived but was unable to work for several months.
The only income he had was from magicians buying his products.
Otherwise he probably would have starved.

Still, there are those who couldn't care less......

Buy the effect. Not only are you giving the creator what he has a right to, you will also get proper instructions and handling tips which ensure that you perform the effect to it's best potential.
If someone has spent the effort and time producing something, they are more than likely to have performed it countless times and have the presentation down to a tee. It's not all about the props and gimmicks, but the subtle nuances and presentation that makes an effect become something very special.

true say, there are too many people out there who want magic for free and arent willing to pay for it, obviously were not all rich and i cannot often afford to buy the bets tricks but thats why we work hard to be able to give the creator what he deserves so that we too can perform what they have created. i quite agree with Seiges comment, they are leechers.

I notice Dal has been remarkably quiet since his last post. Let's all hope the message has gotten through.

Since the DVD market floods us with new routines and products every day, it is easy for those with no morals or scruples to simply watch the routines and then having worked out a method of achieving the effect, make it up and perform it themselves.

I have always enjoyed the challenge of reading a description of a routine and then trying to work out a method of accomplishing the same effect, but that is where I stop. It is simply that, an excericse to challenge my little grey cells.

My challenge to Dal is, let us all see how creative YOU are. Publish your ideas and we will applaud you as opposed to reading about clever you are at copying someone else's creations.

I DARE YOU!
