Valentine's is a Hallmark Holiday. Just an excuse for card, flower and chocolate companies to make money. I mean why put a day aside for being nice to your special someone when you can be nice to them every day. So that either makes me a soppy romantic or a big bah humbug.

No, you're quite right pcwells. It was apparently invented by Chaucer, who wrote about it as a day of old traditions but it's been suggested by many (according to wikipedia) that they never existed before he wrote about them! Nice one, Geoff :?
I happen to be taking my special friend out for a meal that night, but for other reasons... wednesdays happens to be our night, plus it is a "monthiversary" (our first monthiversary, to be precise). The fact that it's also Valentine's Day only adds to the occasion by making it damn near impossible to find a table for two at any restaurant  (I've found one now though... 40 minutes away. Love those long, romantic car journeys  )

Anyway, I sure hope it is magical, but I won't be taking my bikes!

I'm going for a miserable old git

I took him out for a meal at the weekend, we don't tend to go on on Valentines day because I hate the way they hike the prices up and only give you a rubbishy set menu. Much nicer to go out the weekend before or after.

He's cooking me dinner at home on Wednesday

if i see the nice jewelry stall in the next 2 days she'll be getting some ear-rings i think, which will probably be given in some form of magical way. now i need to find my flash paper

I was tempted to buy and heavily practice Kevin James's floating rose and do it in the restaurant. But I didn't bother when she phoned me and said excitedly "I've found a place that's got tables left, and it's only 64 pounds a head!"

It'd best be bloody good or she won't see another valentines with me.

Pulling out your heart as david blaine did would be an awesome effect. although it would be really messy. You probably shouldn't do this over a nice dinner. Or should you?! haha

 Mercy me! We had a delicious meal in a cosy (and dare I say it... romantic) restaurant with starters, mains, a bottle of wine and a shared dessert and it cost a smidge under that for the both! She best be worth it...!
