More Computer Problems

Postby Sir_Digby_Chicken_Ceaser » Mar 11th, '07, 16:48

Hey Guys,

Ok, so after two new graphics cards and a new fan and heat sink my computer is now fully functional! Good news I'm sure but just when i think everything is ok it turns round and bites me on the preverbial backside. Basically when i try to install windows service pack two it begins to load up all well and good, until it comes to "preparing drivers for installation" or something like that. Anyways at this point it just stops uploading.

Any ideas people?

Many thanks in advance

Sam :D

Please please please don't think I'm being rude - I promise I'm not.

However, you'd honestly be better off posting this in an IT support forum (sometimes called geek forums!) (and believe me there are a lot out there)!

When I have PM problems, I usually post in one, and get a very helpful response.

It's more likely that people will have the expertise for that sort of thing in a different type of forum.

Of course, there may well be computer geniuses here who can help you!

However, I'll offer that the chances are that the PC is looking for new drivers for the graphics cards are what it's looking for. Did they come with any sort of installation package?

Drivers :? Theres no problem with hardware.

Its the service pack two installation that isn't working right. It freezes while searching to see if the computer has sufficient space to hold it.

I post on here first as there are quite a few people who are "handy" with computers, to save myself signing up to a new forum, which i will probably never use again or completely forget about.

Perhaps a link to a "geek" forum could be helpful?

Cheers

Sam

These guys helped me a hell of a lot: http://www.geekstogo.com/ (you'll need to copy and paste the link).

My point was that as the graphics cards are new, they may require drivers to upgrade or something.

Oh, hell - I don't know!

i had a similar problem that i thought was processor overheating and basicly built a new computer.
turned out to be a ram problem that was intermitent till it failed you could try that.

also try typing the make and modle of your mother board with a +sign and the word problem after it, you may find theres a known problem already.
