Again, not impossible. While the finale was slightly different - everything else (including the examination of real oranges) was part of the original.

All I was saying is that in the movie, actual oranges grow out of the tree. As far as I know (and I could be wrong about this, as I'm not a magician), but there's no way to perform that trick where actual oranges grow OUT of the aparratus, that part of the effect comes later, and depends more on the magician's sleight-of-hand.

(I'm always worried about revelation of secrets on this board. This didn't go too far, did it?)

In the original trick, the oranges were not real. The real oranges were 'substituted' and he pretends to pluck them off the tree. This could have been the same case in the film (although im 99.9% certain its CG)
