"Chamberlain Golden Touch lotion" great for coin work and cards also.. downside is it can only be purchaswed in the US.. i got a 12fl oz bottle about a year ago and still have about half a bottle left!

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

I have been using Sort Kwik for a while now as I have very dry hands most of the time. Whilst I agree that it is good stuff and does a good job, I find that it doesn't last very long before a re-application is needed.

I've used the ID for a while in my close-up work. I'm happy with my presentation but not my handling. I've tried a few decks and thought they were all too roughed, not enabling the smooth seperation I've seen other performers do (even using a light touch at different parts of the card).

Recently I had that EUREKA moment !! I've finally solved the handling problem. The deck wasn't too roughed - my fingers were too dry !!

It suddenly occured to me when I found I was licking my fingers to open plastic bags in Sainsbury's. I went home and licked my fingers and then handled my ID and the cards seperated naturally exactly as they should !

As I didn't really want to lick my fingers in front of people I then did some more searching around this forum and discovered this thread. Having received a small tub of Sort Kwik this morning and tested it my handling is now perfect :D

HOORAH :!:

Sort Kwik For Lots Of Grip

:D Then there's a similar one called 'Tacky Finger' by Velos. That's quite cheap.
However for many, many years I have used Nivea Creme( the one in the Blue plastic pot) You buy the large one and put some into a smaller pot.
If you shop around you can sometimes get a gift of a smaller container of Nivea with the large one.
In recent years, not performing as much, I have used it prior to every , 2 hour, lecture & it keeps my hand, moist.

PS you can also use it as an aftershave balm!!

In the 50's a moustache pomade, in a tube-- Pomard Hongroise was recommended.
Robert Harbin, in an early work suggested disolving sugar in water and dipping your hands in it!! I never fancied that.

At one lecture a magician asked what could he use for wet hands!!
All I could tell him was rosin. We used in the ballet (on the shoes) and of course tightrope walkers & I believe gymnasts on the bar, use it.
