What is Flare?

Flare is an effect that will allow you to cause a cigarette to light itself.

What if I don't smoke?

You can use the principle to cause other things to self ignite.

So what exactly does it look like?

The performer removes a cigarette and puts the pack away. He/she holds the cigarette up at the finger tips and concentrates. Suddenly smoke begins to flow from the tip and then 'FLASH' it ignites.

Is it usable in the real world?

Absolutely, this is something that is definitely a real world, workable effect.

Is it impromptu?

It's not impromptu, but the set-up is very quick and easy and you could have multiple things ready to self ignite.

Will anything be difficult to obtain?

No, you get the gimmick etc with the DVD, and everything can be found for very little.

My thoughts on this: This is something I am very happy with, and something that I knew I must have the moment I read the description and watched the demo vid. The method is very clever and can be used to make other things self ignite (so non-smokers like myself will still get a lot out of this). This stands out as something different than the common card trick etc, and I am very much having fun with this and the effect is amazing.

DVD?

The DVD goes over everything clearly. No words are spoken, but its shot in a way that everything is extremely easy to understand and learn from. The quality isn't the best, but it is thourough and clear and I see no problems here.

Overall?

This is a great product, and a fantastic effect. If you like the idea of seemingly causing a cigarette etc to suddenly ignite using the power of your mind (or what ever direction you want to take this in) then don't hesitate and go buy it. I completely recommend it and I can confidently say you won't be disappointed.

This effect is for those of 18yrs and over

for you who have it or for you Kelvin, since you work for them. Is the cigarette safe to smoke after being ignited (well as safe as smoking a normal cigarette can be anyway)
For instance say a girl asks to bum a smoke from me. I give her a prepared one. She looks at me like I'm a jerk for not offering her a light.
"Im so sorry, let me get that for you" I take the cig back and do my little thing and freak everyone out. Can she keep and smoke the cigarette or do I need to keep it to maintain posession of the gimmick?
I'm asking because i've been looking for something like this for a long time. I have no idea on the method but it sounds like the gimmick is prepared inside. is it a reusable gimmick or does it burn up with the cigarette?
Thanks

Heya Trooper,

Yes, the presentation can be exactly as you have suggested. The gimmick that's in the cigarette will be burnt out as soon as the ignition is completed. What's left after the ignition is completed will be a normal, "smokable" cigarette.

If you do purchase this from us, just keep in contact. The DVD will teach you all you need to know to handle this safely and to perform it without any detection. However, due to its versatility, if you have any queries regarding handling, variations or applications, email us anytime. We'll give you all the help that you'll need to fully enjoy performing this.

Cheers bro!

Here is a question. I am working on a rotune magicmonkey will know what I am on about. I hold a peace of flash paper and I need it to silently ignite also I want the spec to be able to handle the paper before hand can I do this with flare?

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

I have "flare" coming in a couple days and got an email stating that I could get an additional effect if I made a review online, so... is it okay to duplicate review? lol

can't wait to try it out!

Reviews should be original and all your own work of course and there's no objection to additional reviews being added to an existing review thread. - in fact it would be most welcome to get an extra viewpoint.

On stage. Flare???

Postby paulzorin » Jun 23rd, '07, 10:51

Can you tell me if this product is angle proof?
I want to perform this on stage. on the demo the hand looks like its kinda concealing something (around the base of the cigarette) and the hand looks in an awkward position.

Also, Can you give the cigarette to someone else to hold?

Can you give the cigarette away to be smoked? Can you basically offer a cigarette to someone, light it with flare and give it to them to smoke??

that depends a bit... on how far away you are. Not really though. almost every angle is OK.

you are totally wrong. the hand conceals NOTHING. it's in the awkward position to clearly show that she is concealing no gimmick.

Also, Can you give the cigarette to someone else to hold?

yes.

hi all, I'm new here so, hello all!
i received the flare dvd and like the performance very much. I also bought everything you need. but, the salesman frightened me a lot. anyone who smoked the cigarette completely up? no complaints afterwards? I'm just too afraid to test it...
