D-Lite discolouration

Postby Lord Freddie » Apr 5th, '07, 13:23

Weird request, but I find that after d-lites have been in my pocket, they taken on a slightrly darker hue. I don't have this with normal TT's at, just d-lites as they are softer than normal vernet tt's.
What's the best thing to clean them?
I have a black velvet bag in my jacket pocket which I keep some magic stuff in and maybe it seems to stain them, anyone else have this prob with d-lites?
Obviously, the better it matches your skin, the more effective.
No one has rumbled but I would feel more comfortable with them looking a bit lighter.

I think Baby Lotion works at getting rid of 'grime', but I fear it's clothes dye which has caused your problem.

When I used to stroll around with a D-lite in each jeans pocket, I noticed them turning a bit blue one night whilst wearing some new jeans.

Sadly, the discolouration was impossible to get out!

I had the same with blue staining around the rims. The only thing that got rid of it was very fine sandpaper

A emery board that you use to file your nails might work

try storing them in a small zip lock bag and leaving them in the bag (with bag open) while in yr pocket. i find them relatively easy to access this way. no question the softer TT's are more porus than the hard kind.

Cheers everyone. They are certainly much weaker than say, the vernet TT's. One I had years ago fell apart quite quickly (I think it must have been the earliest kind, when they first came out) and the colour darkened very quickly.
I recently bought a new pair and hoped that after nine years or so they would have improved the materials used, but alas, no.

Just out of interest have you tried contacting the people at d-lite to ask for some advice? Surely if there is a problem with their product then they will have a soloution?

Just a thought

Good idea. I was wondering if other people had this problem and it seems that's rather common, I can only assume that a normal TT is too solid for this effect and softer material needs to be used on it.

Well. in the words of Val Doonican, I've greased it, shoved it, oiled and lubricated it and it seems that blue thumbs are all the rage in the D-lite world and nothing can restore them back to their pinkish glory!

Bah! :x

If selling oak 'toys' isn't enough, now you're recomending baby lotion, and there was me thinking that you were a nice man :D

I found my D-lites did the same as the TT was made of a thicker rubber to, I used (and this is shoulde be used sparingly, and thoroughyl washed off) Mister Muscle oven cleaner, dab it on with a damp cloth...........

This will get any dirt off, including....SHARPIES! permanent pens....to get rid of them awful signatures of the public, or to strip off the entire Card graphics....

BUT I REPEAT USE THIS STUFF CAREFULLY COS ITS LETHAL, TRY NOT TO BREATHE IT IN GET IT ON YOUR SKIN, AND DONT SWALLOW IT OR GET IT IN YOUR EYES COS YOULL BE SC*EWED....

I've found that a few minutes in Cillit Bang/water solution does the job
