I did not object to a negative review, only to you posting the secret of the effect. That is totally different to objecting to a bad review.

Items we sell get reviewed on forums all over the world, and some tricks people like, and some they do not, as you know 'one mans meat is anothers poision'. I hardly ever join in the threads. However, this one is an exception, because you are claiming I'm attacking you for slating the trick, which really is not the case. I just had to remove your posting because it was not even a review, just an exposure.

You have every right to express your opinion about the effect, although it seems you are taking objection to me expressing MY opinion of your posting on my site. If you are a reviewer, then you should not object to your work being reviewed too.

I agree, you do write some very good reviews, and I have nothing against them at all. My site displayed hundreds of reviews from customers. But i honestly do not feel that it is out of order of me to have removed your posting. I certainly don't think it deserves the response it has recieved from you across a series of forums over the course of the year.

Guys, am I being out of order over this? If I am, do please let me know and I will change the policy of the shop site, and will nolonger respond to reviews. At the end of the day I simply want to give the best service to as many magicians as I can, and in this case did not want complaints about exposure on the site.

Freddie. I think we need Judge Judy or Trisha to rule on this one :)

I'm still a bit p*ssed off with these guys for the whole Little Smoke debacle. Although I'd bought from them previously, and they had been good about refunding me for a product, I feel that given the nature of the issue (ie. they were selling a rip off product under the wrong, non-rip off name!) they should have been falling over backwards to sort it out, stay in touch and make amends. That makes the difference between a reasonable magic shop and a great magic shop, and it makes one suspicious that it was being done knowingly. I know it might be hard if you've got a lot of stock and you're still a small company, but NUMS can do it, DiscountMagic.co.uk can do it... the issue was never resolved however, I was left waiting for a call that never came, could never get the guy on the phone... it still annoys me to stumble across that thread but really it'd be silly to try and drag it all up with them again. If he doesn't care that he's lost my custom, well...

my tops in the UK is:

Online: MagicBox - great customer service.

In Store: Davenports - Always nice even to first timers.
International Magic - I felt like I was part of a family here
but I've only been there once.

International: Hank Lee's - archaic website but good customer service.
This would be the best shop ever if they upgrade the website.

The only negative thing I had about www.world-of-magic.co.uk is the deliivery time. They certainly have a good range of stock but I once ordered a book whcih took over a week to come.
An indication of delivery time for items on their site would be a good idea.

With Black Hart, the item took a long while to come, but considering these are exclusive effects produced by one man, I can understand this, I was delighted with the effect when it arrived and find their products to be very unique and of a high quality. The instructions with the effect were well written and comprehensive.

As for Magicshop, the response on this thread alone shows that it's best to keep quiet if you dislike any of their products. Ho-hum. So much for freedom of speech. If anyone has any doubts read my review of Hypnotrick on this forum which as no exposure but an attacking reaction from the supplier.
I'm too scared to order from them now!

Everyone buys the odd, duff effect every now and again, and perhaps it's natural to feel a little 'cheated'.

That said, I'd kinda' imagined this thread would have been a useful OVER-ALL view on issues like delivery times, customer service, stock levels, helpfulness etc, and not something that is used as a forum for moaning about a single bad effect/experience, which evidently seems to be a one-off situation.

In short, I really do think this could prove to be a very valuable thread for all members, and it would be a great shame to see it get locked (like the 'Hypnotrick' debacle thread).

Freddy and Magicshop: Absolutely no disrespect to either of you, but PLEASE....can you either agree to disagree, or continue your discussions in private?

Thanks :D

Until Rob's post above I was very close to locking this thread and it could still happen but for the time being we'll let it ride a little longer on the basis that the spirit of the thread is borne in mind rather than dealing with individual issues so deeply.

I'm a big fan of magic box, they're always very helpful. They've always phoned me if there's ever been a problem or if my order was going to be delayed. Even once ended up having a 10 minute chat with a guy from there who phoned to tell me that my order I'd placed a few weeks earlier was in stock. Very nice, friendly bunch :D

I don't think I've ever had any bad experiences with any online magic shop, any issues are usually resolved with a quick phone call.

As a consumer, I would always go back to Magicbox, and Cards4Magic.

Brilliant service, great inventory, and nice people.

I echo Seige's comments about Magic Box. Excellent range of good products and excellent service and delivery. They have some great exclusive items and a lot of things that many people don't have in stock, such as the Apocalypse books.
I wish they'd open a London store!

Please all be very careful of what's being posted, personal opinion and experience is just that, nothing more, and any written comments need to be beyond dispute especially if they are negative ones. We don't have time or inclination to monitor these threads 24/7 for potentially libellous legal issues so deleting and locking will be the most likely outcome.

I'd certainly be the very first to agree that each and every transaction is likely to be a somewhat different experience, which is why a thread like this is so important.

By having 'multiple' buyer-reviews of the dealers, we can build up a picture of how consistent the service is.

Thanks for your input Lord F - much appreciated :D

Just added some more, oh and magicshop I should be able to email you later today.

Oh and Mandrake, If you to delete my first review page or lock the thread because you are worried about sueing and the like, that is totally fine by me and I understand your worries.

You're welcome Rob, my honesty sometimes gets me into bother, but I'd rather be upfront in this age of hype and media censoring and I repect it when others are too.

Thanks Freddie - it's good to see the thread moving forward in a positive direction.

I've got a nice, glowy, Friday feeling all of a sudden [wibble]...

...Oh, I see - it's just my medication kicking in
