I think a little flashy card handling can spice up an ACR or any other card routine when the specs would normally be getting a little bit bored. It draws them back into the trick.

Frankly if the spec is getting bored with your ACR you're doing too many phases. There's a vocal minority of respected magicians ranging from Derren Brown to Mark Lewis who assert that displaying skill with cards is no bad thing. On the other hand the whole Dynamo mid trick flourishing thing is grating to watch and probably highly mis-timed, after all you don't want to remind an audience how great you are at controlling the deck immediately after they've put their card back into it.

The artist who does not rise, descends.

I also think that a lot of tricks could be appreciated by people if they knew how hard it is to accomplish.
