Whats your favourite type of cards and best trick ?

Postby Tigerboy » May 27th, '07, 18:56

My favourite type are The bicycle black tigers deck By ellusionist. I just love the way they look ! Especially the deck with red pips and the quality is outstanding.

I enjoy using my black gaff deck mainly but my favourite normal trick is the ultimate transpo (Learnt from Oz pearlman's Born to perform card magic)

Of course they are!

If I were to use a black deck, I'd use the Tally Ho Vipers, as they're beautifully designed and printed on a stock that's a dream to handle.

But I use three decks a week, so I'll stick to Bicycles... $1.15 a pack compared to $7.99!

Trouble with the black decks is that the spec immediately thinks "trick deck" when they see them. I love black decks, but would never use them when I'm working because of that reason.

Boring as it may be, you can't beat standard red back bikes for working.

I don't really bother with all them black tiger or limited edition cardz from the streetz or whatever.

I just stick to my bikes and they do the job- cheap, great to use and work with any gaffs that I want to use.

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

Yep I agree, Tigers are nice as your personal 'fun' deck, but really for work, it has to be regular bikes. I get through a few decks at each booking and need a good background for the spectators signature.

The only thing i find annoying with some standard decks is that they just don't spread quite right. or maybe it's just me...could very well be.

Yeah i suppose you all have a valid point. And ive taken the ultimate transpo and made it my own. I only use my tigers in certain routines and still use the trusty ole' red backed bikes but i just cant get enough of the way tigers perform. I have recently branched out and bought a ghost deck but will people think they are a trick deck too ??

Specs will always try to work out how you did an effect after they have got over it (read art of astonishment for more of this). So they generally conclude that you have a trick deck, marked cards, up your sleeve or someother quite well known method. Sometimes this can be heightened with some decks although not as much as you'd think.

Over time once the novelty has worn of and you are spending three times as much money on a deck you will probably start to buy regular decks. I go through 1 or 2 decks a month on average and I don't want to spend over the odds on them. Note that these decks are for practise alone they don't include performance and dropping them all over the pub's floor after a few to many. :D

To be honest I dont like black decks. They chip and look tacky with scuffed edges. Vipers do handle well though, but as stated they are deemed gaffed by the layman

in my opinion i like to use normal bicycle deck or any normal deck because if we use ghost / black tiger or tally ho viper the audience would be curious about taht card and i dont like the ghost because the colour all black (when i perform electric touch with a ghost the spectators think the heart is a spade because it was black so i have to improvise in many way.. hehheheh)

thnx

Yeah i hate the way that the edges on tigers chip. I only brought a new deck 2 weeks ago but after a few well thought out routines theyve begun to chip :( .

I don't know if you all are just handling them funny or what, but I've never been questioned when using black cards or the Ghost deck. Instead, I would get comments like, "nice cards," no matter the audience.

I got my Black Tigers from the first run Ellusionist produced. The first run had some major finish problems and wouldn't handle well at all. That turned me off to the Black Tiger deck, and even though I've heard that the problem has been remedied, I'm not about to buy another pack. With the Ghost deck, my only problem was that they got dirty far too quickly. I've got a deck of cards in my hand two hours or more each day, so my cards tend to get dirty, warped, bent, kinked, crimped, and crumbled throughout the night. As such, the Ghosts get too dirty to look good in performance and prove to be too expensive for my tastes.

For y'all high rollers, I leave the responsibility on you for keeping Ellusionist in business

Then why didn't you cash in on the 60 bucks per deck on ebay? Man, I wish I had that opportunity...
