Postby ultimatecreate » Jun 5th, '07, 14:09

Deeper and deeper; the secrets of stage hypnotism by Jonathan Chase. Can't seem to find this in the review section so if anyone can write one Id be most appreciative.

Many thanks!

Jeebus! In the middle of my exams @ uni and this came. Thought id give it a chapter or two, get a feel for it...half a book later.

This is gold!!

My only objection is that it concentrates very heavily on the STAGE performer. I realise that is where people in this industry aim to end, but people begin hypnosis with members of the family and friends who know that you are not an acclaimed hypnotist in the home. Deeper and deeper relies heavily on convincing strangers that you are the best there is. Obviously this is not possible with members of the family who realise you only got the book last week.

Anywho - GOLD!

Will blast this over again and try my first induction once I finish it again

It is very difficult for even experienced hypnotists to work with their family or friends. Concentrate on strangers.

Wise words at last!
Chase even mentions this very fact in his book...

Remember if one test fails then another can work it all depends on how people are programed befor hand. Take the one arm is heavy one arm is light if the subject dont know what it is like to have a light arm then you wont see much movement but you will get a bigger response out of the heavy arm.

Both books are well worth the money but I perfer the encyopedia more then deeper and deeper. Dont get me wrong they are both very good McGill has more of an edge to me anyhow.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Well there is a test you do. You explain to the subject his arm is heavy and the other is light. One being pulled up and up and the other down and down. But if they cant relate to this it wont work.

Will work on some wont work on others. If you have Banacheks book on muscle reading the pendulum section will help you sort the wheat from the chaff so to speak. And remember its how open people are to this type of thing you can get people who fight it all the way to respond but theres no point really.

As Chase says be the hypnotist.

I suggest (the power of suggestion!) to fully read all you can until you are confident that you understand the methods and psychology behind it all.
Then you will be able to use the commanding presence & enforce in the participants mind that you know what you are doing, which I believe are vital to success in inducing hypnosis.

Just an add on me and Freddie quite often discuss this field and we have both use this as an in road to get the subject in the frame of mind. A trick or effect that only appears to use suggestion or hypnotism. I use either Entourage explaining its all to do do with suggestion. Or and the name escapes me where you cause the spec to forget the shape you have drawn on a business card.(Sankey effect on 22 blows to the head).

So what are you favoured 'tests' and inductinons then that you will always pull?
