Surely that would make no sense, as no-one outside of this forum is aware of the concept of "CUPS".
One time I was doing a 'pick a card, put it back, reveal' trick for these two women in a bar. The first woman put her card back and I lost my break, losing her card in the deck forever. So what did I do? Turn, with a cheeky smile on my face, to the second woman, and say "Your mate was rubbish. I'm sure you'll be much better. Pick a card."
They thought it was funny, and I did the trick. No worries.

Noone ever remembered that an original card had been selected. Or just then hand that deck to another spectator and ask them to try to find the card, and when they can't, just take out another deck, have another card selected and ask the spectator to do everything exactly as you do it.

Geez, if you mess up, you're clearly not ready to sell an effect or lecture notes.

When I find out I talk about it being interesting and try and get it to the bottom then lay the deck on the table and talk about their favorite number, then tell them how amazing it would be if their card was then at that position. Pick up the deck and perform the end of 'design for laughter' from RRTCM. If you know what I mean![]()
Still gets a 'wow' effect....
