Floating Light Bulb

Postby Josh Clarke » Jun 14th, '07, 00:22

I've seen 2 different price points for floating light bulbs. One is $12 - $20. The other is $45. I think I know how the cheaper one works because it requires a cloth. I want to know if anyone knows the difference between these two, if any at all. I don't want to buy the $45 one and realize I could've got the same thing for $12. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

$45 Floating Light Bulb - http://www.hanklee.org/xcart/product.php?productid=3185

P.S. I'm looking for the one closest to what Criss Angel did. I'm thinking it's the more expensive one because you can pass a solid hoop over the bulb.

I do believe Criss got permission from Gay Blackstone to do the Blackstone set up... I'm not positive, but I believe that's the case. If so, you can track down the old manuscript on the Blackstone Floating Lightbulb which was originally sold by Jay Marshall/Ireland's Magic (a.k.a. Magic Inc) in Chicago for something like $10.00.

Know however, the real working to this routine has never been fully explained and is known to a very small handful of folks that were entrusted by Harry when he was alive and now Gay. Nonetheless, you will find the basics in said manuscript.

Alternatively, you may want to look at the various hook ups used on Floating Ball Routines and figure a means of employing a couple of those for your own personal touch to this classic. I used the Don Wayne Floating Ball Hook-up along with one of the Blackstone hook-ups for mine routine long ago... then again, I have another version that's available should someone have a heck of a lot of money they wish to part with... in this version the bulb/ball can cover every square inch of your performance area vs. the more traditional left and right type controls.

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna go ahead and buy the $45 one. Heck! Father's Day is coming up and I'm a father. I'll post a review after I get it.
