Making the ID visible

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

I have 2 ways of doing this trick:

The first is basicaly straight out of the box trick - lots of patter about an ID of card, then hand them a magical ID of cards, joke about them taking it out of the box and shuffling etc, turn over any card (I use lots of really blatent hints - chose any card which is close to your HEART - I even make it a joke, by saying 'heart' slower and louder - it makes the audience laugh).
T change the deck, I simple take the 'magic deck' off them, and lace it inmy pocket, then wave my hands etc and pull out the ID, claiming that sometimes decks materialise etc - then I reveal the card and they all go wild :)

The second way is similar to what was mentioned above - I keep a silk / hankey in my pocket, and when I remove it, I have the ID under it - the trick then continues as normal, but the deck suddenly apearing adds a lot to the illusion and IMO leaves a much stronger impression

Obviously the method I use depends on where I am, who Im performing in front of etc, hope this helps

Also, I have invented my own trick - based on the ID / brainwave deck - but dont have a name yet, see this link for details on it

Seige posted a good routing using two decks somewhere in here a couple of days ago.

I prcel mine up in a n evelope which i then give to a spectator to hold for a while. I then leave the room whilst the spectators chooses a card. When I go back in I take the pack out of the envelope so this is the first time I have touched it since they chose their card. I ask for the choice and reveal it turned over. When I did this for a family group a few weeks ago they made my wife leave the room while they chose so that she couldn't tip me off!

As the spec is putting the ID back into it's box I palm the real deck out of my pocket, reach over and say 'I'll take that back now' and reveal it that way. I find this gets great reactions

I havent read through any post but the first but how about this Lawrence, ive used this a few times.

Do the presentation with the ID.. suggest the idea that they are really holding a deck.. have them put the deck in the box and wrap the box in tissue (flash paper) and then crush the deck up into a ball . hand them a lighter and take the 'ID wrapped in tissue' and do David Stones flash deck. it will be like a comedy scrunched up and restored deck followed by the kicker.

It works nicely and its a real shocker to the spectator.

** just noticed Kristiara mentioned the flash idea earlier **

Other than that, if you can load the ID into a spectators pocket, you can take back the deck in its invisible state.. do some fancy flourishes talking about how skillful you are and acting really chuffed with yourself. You will look stupid as you have nothing. Then announce you just made the entire deck vanish.. another comedy moment. ask them to reach in and pull the deck out of whichever pocket you loaded it into and do the reveal

quite bold as they handle the ID. However I can imagine it will be quite effective. I havent tried it its only just come to mind.

edit ( again  )

how about asking them for their wallet and producing the deck from their wallet a la Dave Forrest
