Interesting first response. Generally when writing you tend to think before you speak. Perhaps this is a public forum where new visitors may be interested in their other works and find shortcuts easier than the search engine. Perhaps. I'm Nebulous, pleased to meet you. And no I'm not in acquaintance with BBM, I just like to give credit due where deserved.
Tomo has done great stuff; his hard work shows, I was just impressed by the collaboration. The hat deserves to be tipped towards him, perhaps your the one with the D on though?
I don't intend to cause conflictance but provide constructive comments to contribute to a supportive forum.

I've never had a stripper deck, but I am interested in getting one especially now with all this fuss. Question though... it is my understanding that there are two varieties? Width-wise/ length-wise I believe? And that creates the different way to strip it out.. hindu vs. the other?

What deck is better? What is Tomo's book/ the strip DVD focussed on?

My stuff's all based on the Hindu variety.

Most shops just call them "stripper" decks. The other type are sometimes called belly strippers.

So are hindu the most common variety? I had thought the other (now I see they are 'belly') were the most common.

Great teaching from four people who are obviously enjoying themselves -
and that's only one of the things that make this so special. Using the end of the pier commedian is inspired, it shows why many people have such a low opinion of the Stripper Deck. Ten tricks well taught without a suggestion of using a stripper deck.
Value for money 10/10

Love it

Postby JD » Jul 10th, '07, 20:36

I got this the other day and like the other BBM products I have bought I love it, partly because I am still a beginner and the effects are very simple to perform and partly because I love the stripper principle (Well who doesn't love a good stripper?! ) I think the stripper deck was one of the first things I bought but I never really put much into it as I was lazy and comimg up with new routines was an effort and soon CUPS took me elsewhere but I really like the effects in this DVD and I think it has to be one of my best purchases in a while (And I don't work for BBM either... not yet anyway! )

As always theres good banter from Dave and Owen which make learning fun! And a free stripper deck!

I give it a thumbs up!

:D

Mine arrived yesterday - and I'm somewhat in awe of it in all fairness :D

Very, very nice production values, and a whole glut of real-world, workable material.

Each of the taught effects is accompanied by Jon explaining the actual principle in use, and giving various ideas for extending upon the principle-in-play; I can already see that this is going to be invaluable for the construction of any number of additional effects, above and byond what is taught on the DVD.

The Bike SD is a very nice bonus, and is gorgeously-made; forget all those old 'Wizard Decks' - this is the daddy, and no mistake

The only downside to the purchase?

The DVD has an 'Extras' sections...with adverts and trailers for other BBM titles - I'm twitching all over now, trying to resist ordering a copy of the Cullfather

[shakes fist at Mr Packard]

Damn you, you Big Blind Media tease!

Ok My Thoughts :

I cant beleive in all my years I never knew how to treat a stripper properly.. there was me just going for the climax.. pulling out WAY too early to see the reaction of my specs face when i whipped the card out and held it in front of my specs eyes.

The DVD itself is in typical BBM style, laughs, jokes, a scottish chappy with a dry sense of humour, a bearded man that looks like cross between derren brown and a fawn, and a pretty kick ass sountrack. ( they were all compliments by the way :? )

Tomo - well done mate.. well done.. you gave us so much insight into the workings of the stripper deck. Then gone on to explain how the stripper should and should not be used, how to take the heat off the deck and I was shocked at how little the stripper deck was used in the manner I was accustomed to using it.

The effects themselves are varied in methods employed by the stripper, so varied in fact you would NEVER think a stripper was used. And I guess that is the whole point.

Everything about this product gives me a reason to want to use a stripper deck again.. and so for that reason, I am and I will.

9/10.. because now Im going to have to fork out money for more of those USPCC made stripper decks
