Torn and Restored card question

Have you ever come across a torn and restored card effect where you used tape to restore the card? Something like "ok I've torn the card, now I'll restore it" and you pull out a roll of tape.

Doesn't sound all that magical to me...More like a Tommy Cooper thing?
Am I missing something?

I think Sankey does something like that - but when the tape is pealed off - the card is genuinely restored.

It has a nice laugh moment (and yet remains magical).

John Archer has a Torn and Restored effect where he staples the card back together. Great comedy routine with a cool, magical ending.

That's exactly the kind of thing I was thinking about.

I seem to recall that the restored version of Color Fusion relies on similar - but I may be wrong (hope that isn't exposure  ).

If someone doesn't come along and confirm then I'll dig out the DVD and let you know

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

To be honest I'm not too interested in learning any effects like this, I was just wondering whether its been done.

Paul Harris used to tape the last torn piece of the card to the restored three quarters, saying: "Hey, I'm not a magician!". I believe the late Tommy Wonder had his own variation on this Paul Harris trick.
