My first street magic performance in Boston (Harvard Square)

Postby catusse » Jul 17th, '07, 18:28

hi guys,

Saturday, I did my first street magic performance in Cambridge. It was a pain to find a spot but finally I found one wich seemed not very good at the beginning but revealed itself to be excellent then.
I was right in front of the CVS, on the side walk.

The first minutes were difficult, then people began coming over, like that :

Then, more people came... :

I just did not stop until 11:15 pm ( I started around 7:30 pm )

I performed a lot of tricks : crystal buggy = Morlas car (see first picture), sponge balls, biddle trick, color monte, wow, knife enveloppe and signed card, coarks, napkins, rope tricks, ring, some mnemonica miracles, rubberbands, balloons etc etc...

Sponge balls and D lites were as usual great :

This picture is kind of ugly, but my sister wanted to show harvard, because I am french, and harvard is such a famous place !!! :

I had to be careful cause of the bad angles with people everywhere around me :

I passed the hat and got 92 dollars, enough to pay back my license and get some money for me !
It was a great moment I will definitively go back soon !
Thank's for reading so far

As no one's responded so far, I'll say congratulations on what was clearly a well-received perfomance. It also sounds like you had a lot of fun too, which is important.

Wow I am extremely impressed that you went on so long. I would think that the amount of tricks you could do would be limited because of all the angle problems. That is extremely impressive.

Hi,

Thank's for replying. It was a great experience. Yesterday, I went back to perform in harvard square and I had a lot of fun again. American people are friendly and seem to like magic !
Danny Hustle ? Let me think, oh I yeah I saw him last year performing at the mystery lounge. He was great, and so funny. I remember I talked to him a little bit after the show. I think I will go back to this nice place, next week, or in August.

For the angles, it is true it's not easy, but I don't need to be really covered for my street magic tricks, that is fine.

Have a good week end

Looks fantastic. Hope you have many more successful performances.
Just out of interest, Your location is France but you're performing in the US. Are you over there to specifically perform magic like that? Have you moved there permanently? And you mention a licence, so you must have work visas, etc..
If that's too intrusive, sorry, and just ignore

Hi,

Thank's. It's great. I went back twice (friday and saturday), it was nice, but I think there were less people saturday (they might have been reading the new Harry Poter, because friday night while I was performing, there was a huge line for the library).
I still live in France, I am just visiting my sister in Boston, I haven't a visa, just a street performing license, that's it !

Bye

Really well done! Looks like you appealed to a lot of people, young and old. May I enquire on some of the tricks you were doing? Or is that a deep dark secret?

It looks like you did great, i wish i had a street performing license like you did so i could try and get more well known but for now I'm just gonna have to stick to restaurants and hotels. Keep up the good work :D
