I'm not actually sure if 'not knowing' at the time that you were purchasing stolen goods' is a defence, although its probably not enforcable. I think receipt of stolen goods is still an offence. Anyone actually know?
However, I assume that you paid using paypal. Just contact paypal and explain the situation. Paypal will probably refund you and chargeback the money from the seller ( Plus £10 for the honour)
Look up your paypal payment on your account, and at the bottom there is a link to 'resolution center' put in a claim, explaining that you have recieved an illegal copy, and they should sort it for you under their buyers protection scheme. You will be helping prevent theft and also get your full money back.
Hope this helps
