Craig maybe...Me? Nah - I can only aspire to such excellent wordsmanship! :P

Well written, Stephen (by anyone's standards) and exceptional insight. Worth reading at any skill level, whether learning or reviewing. And, it's spot on.

Thank you for putting it up.

Mike.

Just another thought that was provoked from your essay which regards Corporate Magic.

I know that "Corporate" covers many guises, but I was thinking in the terms of tradeshow / exhibition magic. I personally work many an exhibition stand but not as a magician / entertainer, purely in a sales role. It occurred to me how tough it must be doing exhibition magic.
You need boundless energy, mental strength as you are continually performing and you must be physically fit, not to mention a permanent smile!. From my own experience of exhibitions lasting 2 -4 days, I have been physically exhuausted!

Is this just me or is the same (if not worse) for a tradeshow magician?

Regards,

Stuart

Indeed, trade show magic is all about promoting the product and getting the brochures out to the public. This is why effects such as 'revelation' and 'Strom force 7 - trade show version' is so ideal. With SF7 you already have an inbuilt sales patter that you use as you perform the trick. Some magician's do the old sponge balls but if you can offer bespoke effects that promote the company you will pick up good jobs.
